iDrive Displays Incorrect iPod Song Title/Artist
Anyone else seen this? My iDrive was working fine for the first year, but now it frequently displays the wrong song title and artist when I play a song - but the correct album title always shows.
I use my iPhone to play my music, connected thru the snap-in cradle (basically the equivalent of plugging it into the USB, I think). The first song on my playlist, alphabetically, is (don't laugh) ABC by the Jackson 5, on their Greatest Hits album. Now, when I go thru my playlist, songs will frequently display like this, no matter what's playing: - Artist: Jackson 5 - Album title: [actual title of the album playing] - Song title: ABC That continues on for several songs before it finally starts working properly. Can happen any time. This weekend, I mentioned it to my friend who has a 3-series, and he told me he'd had the same problem! Took his dealer a week, and lots of calls to BMW, to figure it out. But he doesn't know what the solution was, and his dealership is nowhere near me. Still, may have to bite the bullet and make the trip there, unless there's a known fix. Will be calling me dealer soon to see if they know about it. BMW should be embarrassed - the iDrive truly is a piece of crap.

I found that my iDrive would get stuck on a specific title, although the next title would play. Renamed it and seems OK now. Maybe invalid characters in the name?

Thanks - I'll give that a try. If that doesn't work, I guess I'll try deleting the Jackson 5 album, and see if that solves it. But I will miss those catchy tunes!

I see that happen quite often when I pause the track, turn off the car, restart the car, then up pause the track. When the next song begins it displays correctly.

Mine can happen just in the course of playing. And it can stay that way for several songs.
But, in the grand scheme of things, it's not such a big deal. I'll be getting an iPhone 5 when they come out - will be interested to see if that solves the problem.

The way I correct the stuck displayed song is to exit out to the main menu, then re-enter the multimedia / iPod section / Now playing. It refreshes and shows the correct song... It still sticks on one song a couple times a week. I have 3000+ songs on shuffle, playing all tracks/artists.
