Glove box USB port
If I stick an USB key with mp3 files on it into the USB port inside the glove box, would my iDrive detect it just the same as the USB port under the arm rest? The reason I ask, the light flashes on the key but it doesn't read it's content. Would you guys say the USB port in the glove box is defective? Am I missing something here?
Thanks guys for your replies. Sardius

Make sure you're accessing it thru the proper menu selection on the iDrive. IIRC, it's different from the menu selection for the USB port under the armrest. Check the manual.

Hmmmm...now that I think about it, the USB port in the glovebox may ONLY be for transferring files to the car's hard drive. Not sure you can play the music directly from a USB key there.

Correct, it's only for transferring the files to the hard drive. You can't play music directly from it.

You only have a USB port in the glovebox if you have iDrive. It is meant to service the iDrive and transfer music unto the iDrive HDD.

I know that guys do not typically read manuals.. But if you do you will find all this out and more about the idrive and what you can do with it... I am sure most guys had no idea that they can store they're music on the hard drive. Approximately 12 g worth..

Hmm, IMO that isn't strictly true, I don't have the idrive. I have the ipod/USB retroft kit part no. 65410427467 so my car has a USB port in the glovebox for a USB stick (music to the Business HU) and an ipod port plug.
