**AE Performance Time Attack E92 M3, Progress Thread**
Update 4-14-10
What's up fellas, Got a new update with some pictures of our AE Performance Franchise of Time Attack Race cars. AE Redline Time Attack Franchise Team Below are some photos of the AE Franchise Team. We have been slaving away to ensure our last minutes changes will be ready for the next Time Attack on April 25 in Vegas. There are a few more mods to accomplish before the next race that will improve lap times. Check back this week to see our work in progress on the M3, 335, and 370Z! UPDATE 3-26-10 Hey guys, AE Performance is about to head out to Buttonwillow for the first race of the Redline Time Attack season. I took some pictures of Paul Walkers E92 M3 before it got loaded into the truck for transportation to the track. As you can see, we have installed the H&R Race springs for the time being, until we receive the Ohlins coilovers. We have also added an ARP rear wing to increase down force on the rear of the car. As well as 10mm spacers on the rear wheels to give it a more aggressive look. The interior of the car is gutted from the front seats back, per the rules of racing in the Street RWD class at Redline. I hope you all enjoy the pictures of the progress! Here’s the APR wing we installed to give us some more downforce on the rear! Gutted rear end, plus racing seat. A peak at the Brembo Monoblock 6 piston front brakes Any of the parts installed on the car can be purchased through us if interested. Thanks! Dustin Boyko (714) 241-0298 www.blog.aeperformance.com Hey guys! AE Performance is currently in the midst of building an E92 M3 race car, that will compete in the Redline Time Attack this season. I thought you guys would be interested in seeing the progress of the car up until race day, which is in 5 days! I will keep this thread updated daily, as everyday we are making changes to the car. I hope you enjoy the pictures! Today’s Agenda: Crash Diet for Paul Walker’s M3 The clock is ticking and the AE guys are busy preparing Paul Walker’s M3 for the track. First step: Make the M3 as light as possible according to the Redline guidelines. This includes removing all unnecessary parts such as the trunk interior (carpet, sound proofing) and front & rear seats. More weight will be shaved off in the days to come. The M3 tipped the scales at 3567 lbs this morning and by afternoon weighed in at 3317 lbs. The M3 weighed in today at 3,567 pounds with a half tank of gas. The “extras” that Paul can do without in the upcoming Time Attack series. 5 hours & 2 bloody knuckles later the hard work was shown on the scales. The M3 slimmed down 250 lbs. The clock is ticking with only one week left to the Time Attack, parts are finally beginning to show up. We decided to run Volk TE37’s wrapped with Hankook RS3 tires 265/35/18 front and 285/35/18 rear. The wheels are 18×9.5 square with a 28 offset. Weighing in at 19lbs If you have any questions about the products on the car, or need something for your E90/92/93 BMW, we would be glad to help. Call us for more information. Give us a call at: (714) 241-0298 Thanks for looking! -Dustin Check for new blog posts here at www.blog.aeperformance.com Last edited by Dustin@AEp; 04-14-2010 at 06:12 PM.. Reason: UPDATE |

The driver seat is 64 pounds, versus our new seat which weighs 20! Huge improvement! I hope that helps you out. I just took some new pics of the car before we head out to the track this afternoon. I'll have them posted up within the next 30 minutes or so! Last edited by Dustin@AEp; 03-26-2010 at 05:57 PM.. |

We are running the Ohlins motorsport racing suspenion. It's pretty much a racing only suspension, and overkill for the streets. There is a Ohlins Road and Track coilover setup that should be available very soon for the 335i, and hopefully the M3 also.

Are those JIC/Cross coils in those pic's of the brakes?

Aus,
To clear things up I want to get this straight; The M3 was running springs for the first few time attack sessions. We were in the process of getting an Ohlin setup on all of the cars, but ended up that there were only 335i setups available at the time (E90). We then put JIC Cross coilovers on the M3. JIC set the car up and it has been running that way since. Our E90 Time Attack car does have the Ohlin TTX Motorsport Dampers on it. I just wanted to set that straight as there wasn't real clarity on the post. Let me know if you have any more questions. |

Thanks.
Sweet set-up. Ohlin's in one car and JIC in another. I ask because they made a suspension kit from the E9x kit with slight modifications.
