That’s pretty wild, I went with the M3C RWD but I would have gone with the Xdrive version had it actually offered more power.
Guess they are trying to kill off the RWD version..? |

Any word on a HP bump for manuals? I’m assuming they won’t do it for clutch life.

This is great because when I had my comp x drive my number one complaint was that it was too slow.
Not. This is crazy, but OK for those who take to the track … but isn’t that what the CS is for? Or is BMW competing with itself? |

That would a kick in the nuts if m4 would get it and m3 wouldn’t
I think it’s not the best idea for owners of current m3/4. Should make a tune retrofit available for existing cars.

This power increase for xDrive vehicles is solely to compensate for the drivetrain losses that make it slower than the sdrive version.

What Bmw needs to be working on is compliance, handling, feedback through the steering wheel. Better braking system, lightweight wheels, and overall better design aesthetics instead of trying to wow people with horsepower.
I almost feel like they made this generation purposely onerous, so you fall in love immediately with the new class |

I think the breaking is just fine but the stearing feel is lacking. Piggy back gets us way past the 20 plus horses ! I like the lighting on this generation. But I have to say, I would love to have the new steering wheel it will be coming with.

- Let's start with sales projections (Plan A - XM exceeds sales targets; Plan B - X5 sales save the day) - Subtract profit target - That leaves money for everything else: R&D, manufacturing, European Delivery (oh -- we canceled that ...) - Let's see who is asking for money - Electric vehicle teams tell us that cars are heavier and more suspension tuning is required; plus battery development teams need more money for solid state batteries. We get it; regression to Oldsmobile handling is less than desired. Your budget is increased. - M3 is selling well; 20 more HP can be added by simply tuning the DME software in an engine where the design can accommodate even larger HP increases. No budget increase for you. So the wish to achieve a near perfection in handling and steering dynamics is undoubtedly there. Corporate budgets are a zero sum game. |
