G50 3 Series Sedan / G51 Touring
  • In production 11/26-10/34
  • Intro models: worldwide 318, 320, M350 xDrive; US 330, 330 xDrive, M350 xDrive.
  • 03/27: adds worldwide 320 xDrive.
  • 07/27: adds worldwide 330e.
  • 11/27: adds worldwide 330.
  • The above lineup and schedule are preliminary and may be incomplete (e.g. the fate of diesels is currently unknown)
  • G84 M3 sedan possible within that timeframe.

I hope the USA gets a low cost 320i/ 320i Xdrive. Make that the cheapest BMW entry point on rear drive architecture. Maybe the last ICE 3 series? Weird to think that. But it probably will happen.

Is the M50 a replacement for thr M40 to keep it consistent with EV’s?

ICE:
M350
M450

BMWi:
“i3 M50”
“i4 M50”

Or is this post strictly referring to the i models with the M50 designation and the status of the M340/M440 is still unknown?

Apparently Canada not getting the 540? Didn’t read anything but that’s what was hinted during the Canadian press tour of the 530 and the i5.

Given the broad EV mandates for 2035... yup, this is probably the last of the ICE cars.

Please let the last ICE M3 be a stunner.

Interesting timing, my current m340i lease will end mid 2026 and this is my second G20 3 series lease. They have really stretched out the life cycle of this current generation, I guess a lot of owners will need to buyout and wait or they push people into the X3. I wonder if the G20 will receive any material updates between now and then, as much as I love it not sure I would lease a 3rd one when its essentially the same car..

NOT true there is a backdoor language for the ability for synthetic e-fuels...

So the ICE motor can live on just needs the ability to run on E-fuels. An the ability for it to be produced. It pumps and transmits the same way as gas today.

I would think to maximize an ICE motor it likely would be hybrid to some degree even if mild.


But to say the ICE motor is dead in Europe is an understatement.

If Efuels production got up to demand amounts and cost came down it would make EVs pointless.

No one is saying that the next M3 will be an EV. Just not a pure ICE. It WILL have some sort of electrification. The XM / M5 is just the start.

If you want pure ICE, as has been said, BMW has stated the current M2 will be the last pure ICE.
