IMHO, in terms of ride quality, there is a difference between the 20 and 21, but it is not much. The bigger difference is between the run flats and non-run flats.
What is a major difference is the effect of pot holes, etc. The 20's will hold up much better than the 21's. |

My 760 came with 20's and a set of Pirelli P Zero All Season tires. I've got Scorpion winter tires on it now and I'm debating whether to put those P Zero A/S tires on in the spring or get a set of 21 inch wheels with Michelin PS4 Tires. I don't know if it matters, but the only PS4's that Tire Rack has are rated: MO1 Mercedes.
These are the wheels I was thinking of, but I'd get a set of BMW center caps or decals. My car is Carbon Black, btw, and came with black/silver wheels. |

It looks like both of the 21" options on the BMW USA website come with run-flat tires. I had run-flat tires on my 2019 750 and I HATED them. They ride was so harsh that it felt it would knock the fillings out of your teeth if you hit a pothole. I put a set of Michelin PS 4S tires on as soon as I could get a set. It doesn't look like you can buy just the wheels from BMW's website. They're all part of a package.

Option 1 for the 760: https://www.shopbmwusa.com/product/5...1-,-STYLE-650M "Includes four wheels with RDC LC and Pirelli P Zero Run-Flat Tires." Option 2: https://www.shopbmwusa.com/product/6...KE---(BI-COLOR) "Complete wheel set with run-flat mixed tires, wheel size 8.5J x 21 with tire size 245/35 R21 96Y XL RSC in front and 10J x 21 with tire size 275/30 R21 98Y XL RSC rear." |

Ok, I guess my posts were kind of off topic. I was looking to get a set of 21" wheels with better tires than the Pirelli All Season (non run flat, I think) tires that came with my car. That's why I mentioned maybe getting something from TireRack a few posts back.
But it is a little weird that the cars all come with non run flats and the wheel/tire packages you can purchase from the website have only run-flats. It seems like they would offer you a choice of tires. Last edited by AKSteve; 02-19-2023 at 06:36 PM.. |

Agree, that is weird. My car came with 21 and performance tires and I ended up putting DWS06 Plus all seasons on them. Had to size up but it works great and doesn’t rub.

Pirelli P Zero Tyres are the worst tyres for the i7
Make sure that BMW does not put these horrid Pirelli P Zero Tyres on your new i7 order. When you place your order, make it a pre condition of your purchase that they do not spoil your new car by putting these tyres on it.
For some reason it seems that BMW factory in Dingolfing has got hold of loads of this cheap and nasty Pirelli tyres and they are putting them on the i7s. They are the worst tyres for the i7 which is supposed to be refined and quite. |

I strongly suggest both. The more people put pressure on BMW to use premium tyres rather than these cheap and noisy ones the better. I have in the past put my request forward and it has been complied with- but not on the i7. Whether the request is met positively by BMW does depend on timing and whether they have other brands in stock in the factory at the time of production. It may be a long shot but is worth a try because these P Zeros are noisy, hard and not durable. Don't forget that the i7 is both an electric and a very heavy car. Therefore you want to ensure that the tyres are fit for purpose so to give you the pleasure of having an ultimate luxury drive and not something which is going to provide you with the opposite. |
