My BMW App Missing Personal eSim Option
Not sure if anyone else has had this issue but the My BMW app on my phone is missing the option to setup my cars personal eSim. I have reached out to the "Genuses" at BMW and no help. This option is needed to order to finish setting up the personal eSim in my car.

Are you looking under the profile/third party? Have you tried deleting and reinstalling the app?

Do you have that latest operating version for your phone. I know when I try to access remote parking, a notice comes up that says I have to wait for the next IOS update.
Does anyone have this same problem with the iPhone. I have 16.1.2 |

[QUOTE=SylIII;29630111]Yes, my iPhone software is current.[/QUOTE I assume your carrier is TMobie or ATT. Also that you have a newer iphone. Beyond that it is a mystery. The only thing I can think of is deleting your car from the app and adding it back.

Thanks AlteBMW….yes carrier is T-Mobile (I am a new customer however).
My Vehicle info downloads from the BMW USA site when using those credentials when setting up/logging into the app. I’ve read some posts indicating 24 to 48 hours to “provision” my T-Mobile account. Will see what happens tomorrow (Monday) |

What is in the area where the eSim is supposed to be. Even without the T-Mobile being active, I still had the area showing the eSim. . |

Yes, I also get the same message and I have IOS 16.1.2. I was told this feature will be available in the next IOS update 16.2 planned for later this month.

Wow, that is crazy. Have you fully reset the iDrive. The App talks to the iDrive and maybe it’s stuck and isn’t telling the App the eSim is there.
If you haven’t done this, it’s probably worth a shot. |

Since it seems to be an app problem, I plan to work with the BMW “Geniuses” tomorrow. I spoke with T-Mobile yesterday and the Geniuses. I’m hoping it was the B team on the weekend for both companies.

Before you add back your car and app, I would also go into your iPhone settings and go into Safari and delete all the website data, and also clear all the history and cache. I would also go to your memory on the iPhone, and make sure that there was no left over files of the BMW app which you can see in your storage capacity. It is probably not a bad idea to clean your history and website data from any BMW and your Carrier cache and history as well. Did you add your car to your profile via the desktop, or via BMW app. I think the App is the better choice. It is important to make sure once you delete the App, the your account on your desktop is completely clean of all car information. Sometimes, they can even reset your account but that takes time and maybe the next step. Just some thoughts to clear everything out before starting to look at whether the BMW computers are a problem or the eSIM itself is a problem. Maybe you have done all of this, just trying to be helpful as I am sure it is frustrating. Good luck. Last edited by Lovin7er; 12-11-2022 at 07:31 PM.. |

Thanks for this detailed process to complete. I agree, there appears to be some legacy information that’s not allowing the app to load properly.
Will keep everyone posted after my conversations with the Geniuses. |

UPDATE: 12/16/2022
After trying all the steps Lovin7er recommended, the option was still not visible on my phone. I initiated a "Ticket" with the BMW genius folks and reached out to my dealer. A Service Foreman with the dealer was able to determine that there was something about my profile that was not allowing the option to appear on my phone. (We switched profiles and when using his profile, I was able to see the option. When he used my profile the option was missing on his phone) This was communicated to the BMW Assist team and now just waiting on a fix to my profile. |

According to the Service Forman, only AT&T and T-Mobile are offering the data connections. No word on Verizon at this time.

Update: 12/21/2022
My eSim is now activated. I brought my car back to the dealership to have software diagnostics run yesterday (12/20) to confirm. After all checked my BMW profile was deleted and my profile recreated. This cleared the problem and I was able to connect my car’s eSim with T-Mobile. Ran across a few glitches on the T-Mobile website but I was able to resolve. |
