New to wheel fitment on the F80 need help

Hi guys,

Im wondering who's running on 19x10 fronts and 19x12 rears?

Im coming from the e9x so im not sure if the F80 can take that much width in the rears? If yes what offset i should get?

Im planning on running coilovers and i want a flush fitment

Thanks
Mike

Can you run those sizes...? Probably...

It depends on your desired offset and tire size.

If you want something that is stanced out and performance/alignment don't matter then yes... you could probably run those wheel sizes with a stretched tire and some negative camber.

If you want something that is going to perform better than stock and want to upgrade the tire contact patch, you'll probably want to stick to an 11 inch wide in the rear.

The E9X cars can run much more aggressive fitments in the rear compared to the F8X.

Fronts are about the same.

So, what are you planning to do with the car? That will really determine what wheel/tire/offset is right for you.

Yes, those sizes can be done. I personally know people who have custom built those sizes. I personally have 20x10 and 20x12 built wheels on my F80. Its doubtful you will find those sizes off the rack though.

what is the reason for such wide wheels? what tire size do you plan on using?

for reference, im running 9.5/11.5 sizes. only reason i went with 11.5 is to seat the 305 rear tire better. an 11" rear will mount a 305 no issues as well since i have used that sizing in the past.

ps: im in Ottawa as well if you need help with fitment

Without cambering, you're not going to clear 12" rear. We've done around 200 sets for the M3/M4 chassis alone in the last 24mos. Each set was bespoke and made to the customer's specific suspension setup, tire brand, and tire size.

With that in mind, let's start with what suspension are you running? Photos of your car's current ride height? What tire brand and size do you plan to run?

Once I have those info, I'll give you a very specific fitment that's proven not to rub and will be tastefully flushed.

Another wheel noob question. I'm thinking about picking up a set of signature wheels, but I'm wondering how resell-able they are. Would I only be able to resell to another BMW or /m specific owner should I sell the car down the road, or it is a rather common fitment that would work on other makes/models?

I want wheels, but I may sell the car when the mid engine corvette comes out, depending on price and performance. I'm definitely intrigued.

My question is, is it a common bolt pattern?

Bolt pattern of the M3/4 is 5x120. Feel free to message directly so you're not thread jacking (a sin on the forum).

There's more to custom made wheels than bolt patterns. They're truly hub centric (72.6mm) and OEM lugs seat angle compatible. So the M3/4 wheels can fit on an E9x M3 for example, with some spacers in the rear or it can be fitted on an M2 with suspension/camber. With thousands of M3/4 floating around, you won't get too much trouble reselling the wheels especially between March and September.

Can you explain what this means? In this pic it looks like even with 305 tires there’s a tad bit stretch on 11.5” wheels. Not much. It’s similar to how OEM 285/30/20 MPSS looks a tad bit stretch on the CP. Is this done on your car since you want to maximize your drop (minimize you wheel gap with a slight tuck of the tires)? Are your fenders rolled?

you are correct. this basically allows for a more agressive offset without any negative effects. fenders are rolled from the factory
