Do you let your co-workers know what you drive?
Just out of curiosity, how many of you let your colleagues know what you drive? I for one don't let my colleagues know I drive an M3. I use mass transit regularly for work, and when I do drive I park at the end of the parking lot. I make sure I'm the first one in the parking lot and the last one to leave. I think my co- workers would be a little Jealous if they knew I drove an M3. When asked in the past about what I drive I've stated a 328i

This is honestly a big problem in this country. No one can handle another individual being more successful than them or possessing luxurious assets. If they get jealous, that just shows a lack of maturity on their part, and you shouldn't care or have to lie. If they have a problem with you having a nicer car, they should work harder to be able to afford it.

I go as far as to use a car cover. People are getting suspicious, thinking of body camo wrap and/or fake paneling like BMW does when doing development; that should keep curious eyes fooled and jealousy squashed. It's tough driving a 35k car
Ok joking aside, there is something I do feel that for whatever makes never want to reveal what I drive. You say M3 and people look at you like you got money. Truth is the car is 35k-40k. That's just above a loaded Accord. People have certain stigmas and it's silly, jealousy is also rampant; Idk why. |

I don't ask them what they drive, because I don't want them to ask me what I drive. However, for the most part the parking lot is pretty much Lexus suv's, Honda Pilots and tons of Nissan Rogues. There is one X6 and a new WRX.
The reasons why I keep my car to my self is, I remember a buddy of mines told me that his director and him were talking cars, and he asked his director what would you do if I pulled up here in the new f10 M5, his director replied I might have to fire you. He said his director said that with a straight face. At the time my buddy was driving an e92 M3. |

Ha... I could care less when people ask what I drive. Sometimes I say a "M3", other times I reply with "just an old beater car"... That really screws them up after I say that and then they see me get in my M3! Lol

I work with a bunch of car guys, so yes. We're not jealous that one person drives this, that or the other as much as we are *happy* that the other person drives this, that, or the other. We have a lot of cultural and vehicular diversity, and we think it's awesome. When one of us gets a new car, we all go out and look at it, test ride in it, etc. We rejoice with each other that we're fortunate to drive what we drive.

Here's my theory - 80% of people look at our cars and think it's "just a 3-series." And now the catch, 98% of people know what an M3 is (even if they couldn't recognize it in the flesh) and will judge you immediately. Why open yourself up? To a select group of coworkers (those driving GT3s, 458s, 612s (boo)and other M/AMG cars), I'll own up. They usually ask to trade cars for the weekend so it's a safe play. Unless it's one of the 612 guys. |

The average full-size pick-up costs more than a E9X M3 now. I glare at every new Silverado that pulls up next to me, those pompous bastards.

I don't deserve an M3, I bust my ass to be allowed the privilege to be able to sit in such a work of art, yet come on here passing judgement. Man go some where with that mess you just spewed. We have a lot of jealous people in this world and some tend to look at you differently once they come to find out how you are living. And FYI '4Conners' I have climbed the corporate ladder just fine without a spine. Since you seem to want to talk shit! |

I don't advertise that I drive a BMW or an M3, but if someone asks, I'll tell them. Sometimes I'll mention how much fun it is on trips to the Ozark back roads and out on our local track, to get across the idea that I'm an enthusiast. I didn't buy this car for appearances, I bought this car because it's an incredible piece of engineering and a hell of a lot of fun to drive every damn day!

I work for a Hedge Fund and all I can say is most people here have more money than me and drive less über cars. They don't care for that stuff and instead put in retirement, homes and in the market. Oh and yes a lot of people know what I drive here and think it's cool but that's about it lol. I usually drive my Jeep though and rarely being the M in.

I'm a business analyst at a large company and I drive nicer cars than Managers and VPs. Everyone has different priorities and wants in life so why hide something you've worked hard to get?
I always get the joke "how do I get your job?" etc but honestly, who cares...
