new YMB F80 owner, loving it
Hi everyone,
Tonight I picked up my brand spanking new YMB F80 M3 from Wagner BMW of Shrewsbury. Fantastic dealership and I delt with the manager Marc Huaman. It was THE best experience ever. everything went easy and smooth. Closed the deal on monday and waited unitl tonight to pickup due to rain and Christmas from tuesday to thursday. The wait felt FOREVER and I couldn't sleep last night knowing I am going to get the car. I haven't felt this way for a long time and I do switch cars often. For quite sometime, I have been on the fence on what car to get next as my daily driver. The F10 is super comfortable and fuel efficient with the mods I did to it and it's a full size luxry car. I enjoyed driving it everyday. BUT, something is missing. It's too big and heavy, not exciting at all! Xdrive SUCK terribly. Last week I sold my F10 to a friend which made me thinking hard. I was reading and watching videos and doing everything to figure out what to get next. It was not fun. About a month ago I test drove a YMB M3 fully loaded with adaptive suspension and 19" wheels. It didn't feel right. The suspension was way too stiff no matter which mode I am in. The suspension didn't want to absorb any impact from all bumps and road imperfections; even with the small ones. The DCT felt jerky and i tried to switch between many different shift setting with the 40minutes test drive around storrow drive. I felt busy while driving it and tired afterwards. I still wanted to pull the trigger even I was $7K upside down on the F10. The reason was simple, the F80 looked killer! I watched the dealer pulling the car out of the showroom and her rear end is just so sexy that got my blood boiling so fast. In the end, we couldn't reach an agreement. The car has over 4K miles on it(manager's demo and other test drives); the numbers didn't make sense. I was worried about a million things. As I cooled off; I didn't want to "settle". Since I sold the car last week, the hunt started again. Originally I wanted to get another F10 but a RWD diesel when my lease is up on the F10. I didn't want to deal with getting a car out of state and none of the dealerships have the exact car I am looking for. What I want is simple -> 4door sedan, fun, lightweight, good performance, german built, has to be RWD, somewhat fuel efficient. I drive almost 27-30K miles a year so I don't want to burn too much gas. I looked at many brands and models but I could't decide. I can't settle on a car that I will spend a lot of time with. I could get any Audi for employee pricing since I work for Audi but those cars just don't excite me. That was one of the major problem with the F10. I tried hard with Mercedes but no. I am still a die hard BMW fan. So I saw a YMB M3 popped up from Wagner BMW on cars.com; called up Marc and we just made this happen. The car is still YMB with only 12 miles on the clock. It has executive pkg, 19" black wheels, CF roof, HK sound and rear sunshade. I was on the fence about the full LED headlight but I don't regret not getting it. I didn't even test drive the car before I got it but the passive suspension is a nice surprise! It's definitely much more comfortable and enjoyable as a DD. Little bit more stiff than my F10 but soooo much better than the other F80 with adaptive suspension. I already put on about 70 miles around Boston. Everytime I step on the gas or dive into the corners, I was smiling big time. I am so in love and happy again. I already thinking my next F80 will be SO exterior with SO interior, my #1 choice actually. YMB is #2. Bought a few simple mods already and waiting to put back on my light weight wheels and tires. Undecided on which springs to get. Next week the car will get tinted. I plan to keep this car simple and just drive it. Thanks for the time reading my nonsense; I could barely type since I am still excited, hahaha. now some pictures. better ones will be later. and my loving F10, will be going to the new owner in Jan. already missing you. I still have my Imola red E46 M3 track car. not sure what to do with this full time garage queen. I drive maybe 1K miles a year now. she is a keeper I guess.

Dang, sold your F10 last week and thought your wait was forever?!?! You should see some of the posts from members contemplating options decisions for months on end! Placed my order in August, ED in November and redelivery in Jan! and that's not even close to those who placed a deposit 6 months in advance of deliveries!
Either way, congrats on the new car and enjoy it in good health! More pics when u wake up in the morning!!

I've seen that color live on an M4 and on an M3. You sir did it right.
I do admit it looks good on the M4 too, but M3 is more demanding. It really takes more than a few layers of white to make it pop.

Good read, thanks for sharing. Great color. I think al of this year's exclusive colors are all wins. Have made the rotation myself as far as decision making. Really surprised to hear the passive suspension is more forgiving than the adaptive selected in comfort (and would have assumed it would have been identical to sport). I only added the adaptive to give myself a cushy option on rougher roads, but sounds like that may not be the case. Enjoy!

It's nice, but I must admit I have yet to see this color in the wild. SS, SO and AY the other M-specific colors yes, but no YMB.
You might have hit the exclusivity jackpot with this color, especially if it get discontinued. And I mean that in a good way!

Congrats!YMB is a great color (yeah, I'm biased) it changes a lot, depending on the lighting.

I agree, you have to see the colors in person. I was lucky that I saw a few colors already so I know what I wanted. Hey bud, I am not from the shrewsbury area. I am from andover/tewksbury but work in Natick. Thank you all for the compliments and support. Feels nice coming back to the forum. I got to tell you that I was NERVOUS driving the car in the first 20 minutes or so. everything feels different and exciting. Took me sometime to adjust; then everything feels right at home. Can't wait to drive her again. Lastly, about the adaptive suspension vs passive. I am not an expert but those were my thoughts. I drove pretty much the same car with same wheels/tires on the same stretch of roads. Passive does feel much better than adaptive.

I ordered YMB without seeing it. The only color I saw on the F80 before ordering was MG. I think YMB is just one of those colors, it's going to be amazing.
