Yes, way bigger and thicker. The stock ones are flat plastic basically. These ones stick out a lot, way more cushion.
Good to hear! This might be my next upgrade. I find myself against that knee pad a lot and it's pretty thin! Install was pretty straight forward?

Very easy. Open centre armrest. Pull out the front piece with the light and USB Charger. I just did this with my hands, was very easy. Don't need to unclip any wires. Remove centre console trim. Again, I just popped it off with my hands, very easily. Can use trim tools as well. Then just unclip and slide off the knee pads and reverse. New ones you just slide in and push down to clip in. All in, about 5 minutes.

Just to clarify, you used just the knee pad portion or the supplied trim and knee pad? I ask because I have the LED upgraded center console trim and want to keep that. Thanks

I really wish BMW didn't cheap out on actually using re-designed doors on the M cars. In their efforts to re-use the base model doors in the M3 and M4, it's led to so much weirdness in both the M3 (abrupt pinch at the rear-wheel arch) and M4 (weird 'formless' transition from skinny door to the beefy rear wheel arches).

In both cases the doors should have transitioned nicely into the rear wheel arches.

There's a better solution!

I also have the led console trim. It's not compatible with the BMW Alcantara piece. You can't Frankenstein them together. However, there is a vendor that sells alcantara covers separately, and they work perfectly.

Not a closeup pic, but it's the only one I have at hand

Someone at my local shop did the same as you and immediately removed the AA axle-back exhaust after installation citing the same drone noise. From the couple videos I found online of the AA single and axle-back system it does not sound bad but obviously hard to tell.
The car sounds great from the outside and the inside, but the drone is unavoidable regardless of whether you are in comfort or sport+, valves open or closed. I think if you have a manual car it will be OK as it's probably not noticeable since you're always shifting yourself and run at a much higher RPM at highway speeds. My car is extremely quiet now, goes to show how loud (and good) the AA setup sounds. I paid $400 to ship this exhaust back. It just wasn't worth the sacrifice for me. I believe AA is working on a prototype with a bigger muffler to lower the amount of drone. But even then, I wasn't impressed with the overall fitment.

Weirdly, I actually like how abrupt that rear haunch is. I agree it could be better integrated, and it's a clear reminder of how this model has grown from the normal 3 series...but also...I love how purposeful and bulgey it is.

Outdoor pictures below. Sorry, busy past couple of days! Depends on the lighting. Tanzanite and the 50% both look completely different. The 3M Ceramic IR series has a very faint blueish hue.

I concur, I like the aggressive appearance and its partially why I went from a G82 to G80 (when I got my first G80). I went to the dealer to get the G82 and left with the G80 cause of the aggression I personally saw. This is not a knock on the G82 at all as Im actually considering getting one but its what happened to me at that point in time.

I pulled up this repost of my car to show some the "fluidness" of the car from the side vs the "bulge"

Great shot. Totally agree on the appearance difference (especially from the rear) I didn't need the extra 2 doors this time, was close to pulling the trigger on a G80 only to get Frozen DG and that aggression, the the longer wait and the maintenance gremlins set in (again dammit!)

Note: I get PTSD everytime I see a car parked next to an end spot by a curb! 😵🤣 I must have gotten curb rash at least 3x that way (always on the right side too!)

Edit: Speaking of fantastically detailed G8x, that's something I did today while eating lunch...a little Griot's Garage cart fulfillment!!😎🤙
