I don't think you can get the M Drivers package after the fact, that's the point.

You are right that you cannot get the actual option package after the fact but you can get the class if one isn't interested in the speed increase. In my previous post where it lists the base packages for the classes you will see the first one is the 'M Drivers Package' class which is $1550. I got the 'M Drivers Package' option when I purchased my car so when I signed up for the 'Two Day M School' they credited me $1550 toward the cost.

That being said if someone were to not get the 'M drivers package' with the car and then just pay the $1550 for the class it will not add any value to the car as the $2500 option package wasn't purchased with the car.

You can't and I'm annoyed by this

I got it on my F82, but didn't get it for my G82 and I regret it, simply because of the speed limiter.

Going to Germany and being limited to 155 mph sucks

Would have gotten it if ...

Having hit up against 130 & 155 mph governors many times, driven 160 mph on the autobahn, and having been a passenger at 175+ I had a 'been there, done that' attitude. However, I still would have bought the M Driver's Package except that figured I would use a sunroof more. [Bizarre that one can buy the convertible with the package, but not an M4 with a sunroof.]

Coming from many track days at California/Autoclub Speedway (175+ do'able in a capable car), Infinion/Sears Point Raceway (at least 130), Willows (128 was my best), and Lagona Seca (135) in AMG's and Cadillacs I think Thermal in M's was much more fun. The dry skid pad there is a hoot, and getting a gold metal in autocross in an M3 was nice (I semi cheated, my daily ride is an M4). Pretty much the maximum speed possible at Thermal is 140, or less on a hot day (and 115F is not unusual in the summer).

BMW offers occasional track day discounts, so during a window when such applied I took the one day class on my own dime (would have taken the 2-day but none offered that month). I recently had to pass on a 'must book by Dec. 31 offer' after buying the wife a new SUV, but my billings have been good and I am already watching for other offers. Do it.

The package is limited to 174 mph on the convertible, while it's 180 mph with the CF roof.

The sunroof is prone to shattering at higher speeds due to some kind of suctioning effect from airflow.
