not all cars work for all people. you better stick with the classics because this is the direction new cars are going at least until people speak with their pocketbooks. complaining on car forums about product design has always been a waste of time.
btw, were my suggestions not realistic for you? the car turns on the defroster automatically when you remote start it if the temps are below the preset. you don't need to turn on your defroster when it's cold. do you have a different more plausible scenario that would justify your negativity? |

I feel iDrive8 doesn't look like it's integrated well with the rest of the car. It feels just like a big ipad slapping on the dashboard. Hope bmw figures something out that fits better with M in the future. Need that cool and wow factors!

The M5 LCI still has ID7 until the next gen (afaik). The M8 cars will likely remain with ID7 until the next generation since the LCI just came out. So while there's nothing exactly like the M3, just about any of the other M cars can work here.

People have been complaining about the "new version" of infotainment across all brands, especially the european brands since what.....2014? At least that's the first time I remember people complaining about MB "ipad on the dash."
Guess what, everyone got used to it, accepted it, started liking it, and complained when they changed it again, lol This is the same thing as the new grill. Simple resistance to change. |

Then just press the defroster button....the new iDrive 8 dash still has one, and a fan button too....

The issue for must of us who are opposed has nothing to do with the 8 versus 7 tech. It is the damn screen, and seemingly what is an absolute oversight on how to integrate it. The gap I have circled would drive me crazy, and I will not buy any car with this type of half-assed design. Heck, I read a brief article earlier on a Peugeot 408, have a look at how nice their integration is in comparison. Add all the screens you want, tell us that is the future, but please maintain some sort of definition directly in front of the driver.

The side, yes, and it is terrible with the little support bracket. I don't recall looking from the the windshield in (I saw a few cars with the screen at my dealer recently). Some is certainly driver preference. I rather have a symmetrical screen in front of the driving position, and then do what you want by the center stack. But regardless, build the damn thing, don't just set it on top.
