Transport mode prevents such shenanigans.

Keep it below 4000 RPM and don’t use full throttle for the first 5000 miles and everything will be absolutely fine for the rest of the vehicle’s life.

5,000 miles, holy shit lol. Where is that info coming from? BMW calls for 1,240 miles. I’ve never had any car that required a 5,000 mile engine break in.

If they're not trolling, I'm assuming they meant 500 and added an extra zero by accident, which is still wrong.

Interesting, I’d always wondered about that. What do they do to put it in Transport Mode and how does it limit the engine?
I know there are many other cosmetic things they do, but didn’t realize they could do something with the engine. |

I also red line my 2024 m3 when I first got it. Hopefully doesn't cause any issues. It's going to take me awhile to hit 1200 miles for the break in service. So I assume we have to drive it slow until 1200 miles?

It's so hard not to drive it (I have a manual) above 5000rpm. Waited 9 months and now got to drive it casually. It's not my daily. Thanks for clarifying. My dealer/sales rep never mentioned anything to me regarding this.

It's primarily meant to disable many of the electronic systems that would normally be always on to help stop those systems from draining the battery. This also includes disabling the alarm from going off as I'm sure the people working on the ships that deliver these cars across the world don't want to deal with hundreds of car alarms going off. I'm not sure if there are engine restrictions on the G8x, but it's certainly possible.
