LCI G82 Gets Rid of Rear Digital Climate Control Screen and USB-C Ports

Looks like the LCI G82, with cost cutting, has removed the rear digital climate controls as well as the 2 mini usb-c ports.

This is a bummer, but not something you notice if you are just the driver!

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-det...om=new&fromsra

TBH it looks terrible without the digital display and charging ports!

Bummer. Didn't they remove this on the G87 as well?

Good thing I don't care about the comfort of my passengers, not that they would fit in the back anyways.

Could it be a package\option issue? Maybe that car doesn't have the Executive Package or something.

I'd understand the cost cutting if they kept MSRP relatively flat. But they haven't, it's gone up dramatically and that's where the rub is in my opinion.

Same feelings here tbh but visually it just doesn’t feel as premium - hopefully the LCI M3 still has these features.

I doubt they would remove it from a sedan, but who knows.

I think my F80 had heated rear seats.

My G80 does not.

If you adjust for inflation, nearly every M3 and M4 model in the past 20 years has been pretty consistent in terms of MSRP.

This is true. It's just that salaries typically don't follow that trend.

(it does suck that BMW continues to cheap out on stuff)

Unfortunately, it's every brand these days. Go over to the Audi forums and it's the same discussion...every year something gets removed or replaced with something of cheaper quality.

And there’s some very smart folks always think later is better because BMW can fix this and that

Make no mistake - the cost cutting on BMWs lately has been outrageous.

But let's be honest here, with any one that has a G82, how often are you realistically carrying passengers back there? Let alone carrying them long enough for them to use/appreciate those features?

My kids pretty often actually. Maybe a blessing, they keep on screwing with my AC sync setting 🤣

I think what folk are missing is that it's not just that the screen is gone, but that the M4's gone from having 3-zone climate control to 2-zone.

Quality and premiumness comes from the little things adding up. With them trying to push up the fake-Ms, pulling down the M4s is a really a cheap move.

Yes. Another reason why I ordered a 24 model while I could. I saw how things were shaping up with the 25 and did not want to be forced into a 25. Glad I did what I did.
