M4 comp tire question

Tire question …. What kind of tires come on a M4 Comp XDrive in the US? Praying they aren't the crappy Continentals….

P zeros or ps4s are the tires that come on the car

Some times you win sometimes you loose. Pretty much a crap shoot on the Michelins 4S*or Pirellis P-Zeros*

Was lucky in this case AFAIK there is no way to pick your tire.

PS4S is reviewed better but the P-Zero's are okay too.

It doesn't really matter either way as they won't last very long with the way these cars are driven - a year to two years of summer at most. And then you can get whatever you want.

I seem to remember a thread that I now can't find with search (of course!) that had a poll on what wheels and tires people had.
There seemed to be a higher incidence of particular tires with particular wheel types. It wasn't that one wheel always came with Michelin or Pirelli, but some certainly appeared to skew towards a particular brand.

No. It's totally a crapshoot which tire you get. Having experienced both, the Michelin is superior to the Pirelli in my option.

Seems like a total crapshoot. I was week 36 and lot of pzeros and I somehow got lucky with ps4s.

Agreed 100%. My car originally came with Pirelli, even with AWD the car was losing grip easily. Swapped all to Michelins and immediately could feel the difference in grip, these tires are WAY better suited for the M3.

I will be tracking the car as I have with my base and CS M4's. The 4S's are FAR superior to the P ZERO's…. P Zero's may have the edge for regular daily, but for track duty, there is NO a comparison!

Surprising amount of cars coming with Michelins over the past 1-2 months. When I took delivery of my car, we had a local event, and out of 18 G8Xs, 3 had Michelins. NorCalAthlete just got his car a few weeks ago, Michelins, and a few other locals, also got Michelins, I haven't seen ant Pirellis.

I had the G82 delivered with P-Zeros. I didn't get much use on them (200 miles?) before I swapped to winter tires. Then I bought a 963M wheel and tire set with PS4S which I ran through summer. I know the PS4S are great (except for road noise), but the P-Zeros didn't seem bad for the brief time I used them - but I'd not experienced them in any hard situation to be sure.

If you track, and track hard, you can burn through the P-Zeros within a day or two with a bit of abuse. But if you can't bear to have them for even that, just buy the PS4S and sell the P-Zeros fresh off the boat - it's pay to play, you'd know how it is as someone who tracks.

Totally agree!! Guess I'll just pray for the PS4's! Thanks for all of the feedback! Car moved to "Todays your day: your car has entered the production queue!"

My M3 arrives in about 10 days. I'll let the group know which tires.

My M4 arrived at my dealer yesterday. I pick it up on Tuesday. I hope I have won the tire lottery...LOL.

I’ve come around to liking the Pirellis actually. Good grip from a dig if they have enough heat. I also went on a drive through the hills in the pouring rain today, no problem putting the power down WOT. I was impressed. Running an aggressive e-blend map too.

My MPS4S lasted 5 months, but I was HARD on them.

Seems like the Pirellis on my M4 are much better this time around, compared to the set I had on the M5.
They grip perfectly fine vs the M5 ones, the only problem though is the tread life , the backs are almost gone in like 7k miles

Same here. My Pirellis lasted a single summer, with minimal hard driving, before tire noise became intrusive. I'm on winters for next 6 months, then onto new Michelins come springtime.

That was my experience with them, as well. They weren't fully worn but they had gotten louder, harder, and performance had degraded. I kept them as spares or as lease-turn in tires (though I have no intention of turning this car in at lease-end now). My stock wheels have PS4 AS's now for the rainy season and I bought 963M wheels with PS4S* tires for summer use.
