These renders just show headlight redesigns. This seems to be based on the spy shots of the 4 series LCI. However, the G8X is getting its own LCI and doesn’t share a hood or bumper with the 4. Let’s wait to see some G8X spy shots before we make any assumptions that it won’t get a more serious refresh. Considering how long BMW plans to manufacture this car now, I bet it gets more than headlights.

The cars on the recent spyshots are the M Sport (no camo on grille) and the M Performance (M440 - camo on grille) 4 series variants, not the M4 yet.
The G8X M3 and M4 are expected to receive the same headlight units though if the past is any indication.

The fact that the M440 has more camo likely points to additional differentiation in design coming between the M Sport and M Performance trims, like they did with the X5/X6 LCI.
They may follow the same strategy for G8X of passing down a similar grille design the pre-LCI M models had to the M Performance model, and reworking the M model grilles a bit.
What that means for the G8X M models' bumper and grille design exactly if that's the case, we'll have to wait and see once M mules also appear.

I’m not an expert but I’m under the impression the front design will be appreciated in the future. Having a front plate doesn’t help at all

Production for M4 LCI is expected to begin from March 2024.
M3 is expected to take over the M4 LCI front-end changes with a bit of a delay from July 2024.

Wishful thinking from a small cohort of people. BMW has shown commitment to pushing their designs forward and in another direction.

It looks better than the M340i lights, but I would have rather they rotated it with the long side on the bottom. That way the headlights compliment the lower side grills. It looks more cohesive imho.

I think it would actually look better than the current look on my G82.

Here is a quick photoshop and comparison:

Ya - that looks cool, but that is not how it is going to look.

I prefer the lasers. I am not trading up again.

Nice photoshop. Hec, I like them both. I do think the new ones look a tad better on the G82.

Good renders, nice work.

As a guy in his forties I still don’t see what was ever wrong with truly ICONIC round halo DRLs.

Peak BMW for me.

It's a great second vehicle to deliver some thrills while on family duty. But I don't feel it can replace a proper sport sedan/sports car.
It's an excellent vehicle, but it's not a great "car" nor is it a great "SUV". I have not experienced understeer in it (though I do have PTV+), but I agree that it's too heavy to be a sports car and too small to be an SUV.
It does some car-like things exceptionally well, but falls short in other areas. Handling/steering is excellent (10/10), but I feel that it could use another 100 horsepower to be really exciting (like an M car).

Gearing/ratios are OK in my opinion. Not too long, but maybe that's because the GTS has a bit more power over the S. The first 3 gears are similar to ZF8 in terms of ratios. Note that I'm definitely not one for long gearing: I've had a GT4 and a Spyder and both had the longest gears on the planet. They were easy trade-ins. Macan certainly feels faster 0-60 than either the GT4 or Spyder. I blame the latter two's gearing.

Despite my Macan being nearly fully loaded (Burmester, all performance options, double-thick glass, special upcharge paint, GT wheels, roof rails, hitch, full leather...), I will only miss one thing when I get the M3: the air suspension and ability to drive through deep snow.

Sorry for going off topic!

Hah I was the one who prompted the off-topic discussion. I've definitely heard the GTS handling is more taut and less understeer-prone. I'm curious to drive one now. Congrats on the M3.

These headlights are ine of the few features LCI that I have liked immediately on first look, usually I hate them and come round later haha

I think this looks amazing and hope it comes to reality soon.

On BMW USA if you build the car, it is built as a 2024 with iDrive 8, the rest of the car looks exactly the same, same headlights and tail lights, so I believe the actual update/appearance change won't come until 03/24 when they start the new production run with the increased HP on xDrives.
