This my 2nd car that I’ve ordered without a test drive. It’s good to hear confirmation of the linear power delivery. I’m new to bimmers; my wife drove a X7 and we sold it recently as we’re downsizing vehicles.

My wife and I are relatively new to BMW as well. I hadn’t driven any of the G8X platforms prior to purchasing this car this week. My wife drove an M3 several months ago, then we found out it was a rwd. Didn’t know the X-Drive wasn’t available until the 22 models. Don’t believe ANYTHING these sales guys tell you, as most, if not all of them don’t know shiiiiiiit about their product they’re selling you. Research is your friend, as I’m sure you already know.

I definitely do my studying when it comes to cars. My wife says that I have a car addiction and that I’d have a Ph. D by now if I applied the same amount of effort towards a doctorate. 3 of my 4 cars are/will be AWD. Glad the G8x comes in xDrive. Congrats again and enjoy your gorgeous M4CX!

They should stop putting that on cars.

Yeah, they “detailed” it for us prior to picking it up… as soon as the weather clears up I plan on actually cleaning up the car. My main issue is their detail guys usually cause more paint swirls, and damage because they use the same rag to wipe down every car there. I’ve had to paint correct almost every new car I’ve gotten in recent years.

Anyone notice the initial break in, the car being "held" back? I know when we originally got our X3M Competition way back in 2020 people were saying these platforms were dialed back a bit on break-in until the 1,200 mile service. I never really noticed it being more or less performance oriented based on the 1st service, but other forum members were sure it was real. I feel this new M4 is as dialed in as a new car can be... It's a lot of fun and super responsive this far.

All BMWs I've owned have a tightness or friction to the engine when new that is most pronounced in the first 1000 miles and then fades over 10,000 miles. The M4 was no different.

I can’t speak for the G8x as I’m eagerly waiting to take delivery of a M4CX but every new car that I’ve owned performed better after the break in period. I assume bimmers are no different.

Every single aspect of the car is available right from the moment it rolls off the factory floor. The technical documentation for the G8x even says as such. Only difference is that during the break-in period you are more likely to get in it as much and take it a bit easier.

If you wanted to do launch control on the way home from the dealership with less than 10 miles on it, you most certainly can. Is it wise? Dunno, lots of people adhere to the “drive it like you stole it” way of life while others will baby it and there are plenty of anecdotal stories that support each method.

When it comes to performance cars, I admit that I'm guilty of exceeding x,xxx RPM occasionally during the break in period. At least I don't launch it during this period. Knock on wood, I've never had engine or transmission problems on any of my cars. I take it easy for the first 500 miles and the flogging begins. I think it does more harm if driven at constant RPM for prolonged periods and flogging it before the oil and coolant temp reach the normal operating range. Enjoy it! Life is short.

FWIW, I am working with my sales advisor who sold me the X3MC on ordering a '24 M3Cx. Obviously a looooong wait for allocation, but I should have my M3 in early '24.

I actually prefer the looks of the M4 over M3 (and honestly, nothin' beats the F80/F82), but my wife wanted the 4-door. I'm using the extra doors to distract from the carbon bucket seats and carbon ceramic brakes lol.

Funny thing is, she wants us to keep the X3M. The only way that will happen is if she sells her Honda Accord. For all those who think the X3M's ride is too harsh, they should talk to my wife

I’d put the Accord up for sale yesterday! Keep that X3M, they’re incredible cars in my opinion. Congrats on your order too, that’ll be a bad ass car for sure.

Thank you! No sir, they sell BMW's at one store, and Cadillac's at their sister store next door. They also acquired Classic BMW in Plano as well.
