do you think the g82 is overpriced

Relative to the g87. In my opinion the g87 build quality seems a bit poor and the styling is not reminiscent of a car approaching 100k. In fact the g82 should be priced at about the 60k range because there is not really a clear upgrade in build quality compared to the previous generation

Is there anything for sale today that isn't overpriced?

your post doesn't make sense. The G87 starts at $62k. And there is a definite improvement in interior quality in the G-series cars, as well as the chassis and engine. And you can option carbon buckets for pretty cheap compared to the actual cost on the open market.

G82 isnt a $100k MSRP car until you check most or all options. I believe there has been a significant upgrade with G82 (when compared with F82) in terms of build quality and performance and the base MSRP is inline with inflation. There has been $6k MSRP between MY22 & MY24 and i feel thats a lot within a short span but that isnt terrible when compared with other OEMs.

Agreed. 911s will be going up 10k in Jan 2024 I hear and they’ve gone up 3-5k the past couple years as well. They’re getting very overpriced. The G8x cars are getting to a point where I feel the pricing is a bit high but compared to most other cars it’s not that bad. I think my G80 M3 feels like a bargain for what I paid (and got 3k off) vs the current model year pricing.

This must be a joke post. You think the G82 should be 60k HAHAHAHAHA. Have you priced out a Honda Accord or a Maxima. I had the previous generation and this one is light years ahead of that.

Pretty much agreed with this statement.

I'm not sure if the build "quality" is actually better than the F8X but it isn't worse by any means and not sure if it needed to improve anyway. This is comparing a new F80 with Full Merino Leather and a new G80 50 Jahre Edition. Take into account new technologies, improved performance, xDrive option and items that come standard versus having to add the Driving Assistance package—I feel the price is right in line with where it should be actually with all things considered.

If you look at the history of the M3/M4 (or pretty much most cars for that matter), they typically have followed inflation pretty closely. So, to answer your question, if the G82 is overpriced, so was every other M3/M4 before it.

This is an interesting take. Your premise is the G82 is overpriced relative to the G87 M2. Then to support that argument, you talking about why the G87 is overpriced. It sounds like you're arguing that the G87 was priced too close to the G82 and doesn't justify it.

I think there are two points to make here:
1.) The G82 seems to be priced competitively to other cars in its class given the performance that it offers. And
2.) Everything is expensive these days.

You can configure a G87 to $100K? Lmao.

Almost nobody with a G82 thinks about a G87. The G82 is brilliant and they are able to extract a premium from buyers because of it.

A used G82 M xDrive is a substantially better choice over a G87 for lots of people.

E46 M3 was $60k loaded in 2004. That’s almost 20 years ago, lol.

I think the guy is trolling. To me the M4 is worth every penny so far. The only other car that could give you all this performance and a backseat is a 911. Which would cost 50k more.

What’s overpriced are the GTS, CS and CSL versions. BMW (and a lot of other manufacturers) is trying to play the exclusive and expensive special editions as they are highly profitable and the consumer is driven by envy (wanting something no one else has).

I think it's a lot of car for the money compared to the competition (Audi especially). Trucks are crazy prices now too.

Besides the flashy CF brace in the engine bay, almost everything else has been slightly improved since the F8X. Combined with inflation, supply, demand, and what customers are willing to pay, and you get a market value, which, at this point, is around MSRP. If it wasn't priced right, you would see discounts at the dealership.

In other words, it's worth what people are paying.

Two things:

Generally breaks down into "its more expensive than I want to pay" or "its more expensive than I can afford"

E46 M3 was $60k loaded in 2004. = Every one of those $60K dollar bills was worth $1.52 in 2023 dollar bills. If anything todays car by that standard is a bargain at $40,000 in 2004 dollars.

BTW in real life. When new, the cost of a 2004 BMW M3 coupe was $46,500 MSRP. Convertible models were about an $8,000 premium over the coupe. At the time, the Competition Package was an extra $4,000.

FWIW Had a 2004 330Ci 6MT convertible its MSRP before options was $44,100.

Well maybe a third thing. A statement like "no upgrade in build quality" has no meaning without examples.

Hey the "Inquisitor" lists his BMW as a 2015 320i. Maybe he is just gathering info on a plan to more up to a currant car & is looking for supporting facts.

All I can say to help is I believe my 2022 convertible is a much better car than my 2004 convertible was.

E46 was 46,xxx back in 2003. That’s 77k in todays money adjusted for inflation. G80 starts at 74,300. Seems fair to me.

Tech has advanced and people like fancier options now, so sure, you can spec it to north of 100k. But that’s the buyers choice and not sure if it’s fair to compare it with options. It’s a pretty epic car even without any of the options.

But car for car, experience for experience, I think the prices have been relatively the same.

Now whether a base M3 warrants a 14k premium over a base M2, I think so. And most forum members here will think so, too. It’s a G8x forum lol. But considering that it’s hard to even find an allocation, I’d say the market is saying “yes”, too.

RS5 is outdated compared to the current G80. Overdue for a model change.

The new C63S is going to start around $95k. With options you probably need - you're most likely looking at $115K.

Mercedes is way more expensive than BMW.

Audi is a joke and not in the same league as either

I'm not even sure what the OP is even saying at this point. G82 is overpriced compared to the G87 which also has poor quality?

I don't think it's a troll, just someone that probably should think things through before hitting the post button more than anything else.
