Hi folks,

Just got a G80. I would like to activate adaptive/matrix headlights.

I purchased BimmerUtility + Esys. I've seen a few gudes but they are mostly for BimmerCode... I'd like to enable to whole enchalada since I've already invested in BimmerUtility.

Does anyone have an up to date difinitive guide to do this? The ones I've found on the forum either don't work or seem outdated (but can't find the thread with the newest method).

Do you have adaptive headlight from factory? Do you mean activate anti dazzle or glare free high beam?

Codemybimmer.ca can remote-code it for you for some $50 to $100. $50 is for recoding after a software update. I forget what the first-time price is.

That can be your worst case option if instructions don’t pan out. You may be able to also reverse-engineer the changes if you’re good and create the instructions for everyone.

Followed the instructions on other threads and seems to work fine, although I don't seem to have the KAFAS04 module in esys (even though the car clearly has the camera).

calculate svt soll and check if KAFAS appears.
If it does not appear then you dont have it

Is there any chance you could walk me through the exact steps do to this (I know it’s a rookie question) - want to make sure I don’t brick my car.

You can do this even without connecting to car. You only need to have save your fa and svt before.
You can use connection via gateway URL. It will bring warnings but you can ignore them.
Connect(via vin or gateway URL) => Read/Load FA (VO) => Activate FA (VO) => Read/Load SVT => Select Complete flash => Select correct I-Step(shipment) => Press calculate

I didn't realize there was a difference between anti-dazzle and glare free. I'm talking about when the lights tunnel around other cars.

Did you manage to do it? What was the coding?

On vacation but as soon as I'm back I'll do the VO and FDL coding and report back here.

I already did it on my iX (iDrive 8 which everyone is saying cannot be coded) - but it worked fine, so I don't anticipate it will be a program on the 2021 G80.

iX some units can't be coded, not all. It uses same anti-dazzle coding as the G80?

All I did was VO code the modules that were able to be read - and it worked.

Got it all going ... turns out I wasn't in diagnostic mode (hit start three times fast) ... once I did that everything showed up.

I was even able to lower the speed of the auto highbeams to activate at 10km/h for testing purposes. Everything is exposed in Bimmerutility.

Not related, but also coded out ASD in the speakers ... I found it super annoying (lots of drone at speed). The switch in the car still works to open the exterior muffler valve.

I'd like this too. I've a tech background but most instructions often assume you've gotten all the software on your system, and know the basics. And when you look for the instruction to get all the software, it's just conflicting information with people saying this or that doesn't work for them.

A bit tired of paying $100 once or twice a year (for two cars) and then losing the coding within weeks because BMW decided it's time for an update again.

I've had anti-dazzle coding multiple times before this through codemybimmer.ca. Worked great every time on both cars.

Tried this DIY out instead after the latest update. Bought BimmerUtility, the whole jazz. It didn't work for me - as in nothing happened. It was just plain-jane HBA. (EDIT: I need to try it out again tonight as I think I made a few mistakes last time, as all the values were 'default' when I read back the ncds today).

What was perplexing during coding was these two (EDIT: this problem remains):
FLM2 > Lmm1_Data > Wert_2 to Wert_1
FLM2 > Lmm2_Data > Wert_2 to Wert_1

I had a Wert_1 setting available to select in Lmm1_Data. But there wasn't a Wert_1 available in Lmm2_Data. I took a "best effort" guess and selected Wert_33 which had a hex code similarity pattern to Wert_2 (for Lmm2 only) - I based this "intuitive" check on Wert 2 vs Wert 1 on Lmm1 (that started off with the first few entries in the hex the same, and then varied by small amounts). If you can screenshot and share what wert_1 (hex codes) on Lmm2 is, I may be able to confirm wert_33 is the same as your wert_1.

Tagging Barathon if it helps. The original post came from a 'solutions' only thread so didn't want to pollute that with my questions.

EDIT: For KAFAS4 coding to succeed, I realized after some trial and error that I needed to VO code the NCD, read it back, change the values and write just the one NCD. Succcess. Aside from Lmm2, everything else is done per the post Barathon had.

Maybe get Bimmercode to do everything but the KAFAS04 stuff... because the solution works.

As for LMM1_Data - that's for the sidemarker. If you change it to Wert 1 you no longer have the yellow sidemarker at night (euro style). Wert 2 is NA style and keeps the sidemarker. (but only at night, it turns off with the DRLs). Not sure why it was included in the anti-dazzle solution.

I prefer the sidemarker so kept Wert2.

Wert 3 just dims the sidemarker but it stays on with the DRLs... didn't go through the rest to see what they do, but I imagine it is just a country specific code.

I'll probably switch back the LMM1 and LMM2 codes the next time I hook up the laptoip, as I don't know what I've actually achieved selecting wert33 for the second one and wert1 for the first.

Can y'all elaborate on the LMM1 and LMM2 codes? I tried setting what y'all said as I'm trying to turn off the sidemarkers on an iDrive 8 G80 with lasers and it didn't work. Instead it just screwed up the inner halo and also made it so that the sidemarkers stayed on 24/7 (even when the car is off and locked lol).

Any idea how to just get the sidemarkers turned off?
