Leather drivers door panel faded spot?

There’s a light spot on my doors leather. Tried cleaning but it doesn’t help. Anyone experience this?

What did you try cleaning it with?

Also, almost 100% sure that panel is vinyl, not leather. But if you did give it a good cleaning, I'd ask the dealer to warranty it. How many miles?

Used some dash wipes, then some plain water on a microfiber cloth. I really don’t know what it’s made out of vinyl, leather, ballsacks? That doesn’t matter to me, the discoloration does. 2024 and 2,000 miles.

Looks like sunscreen. I only made the connection after a friend complained about his wife’s sunscreen rubbing off on his Porsche’s leather. Sunscreen is super hard to get off if that’s what it is.

If nobody knows what it is, I’d try the usual stuff - alcohol, goo-gone (if compatible only), leather cleaners. If it is actually that the color’s stripped off, “cleaning it” will only make it worse. I’d try trim / leather conditioners if that’s the case.

Of course it matters, that helps determine what you can clean it with.

Start mild. Woolite and water. Get more aggressive. Try colourlock products or leather masters. Mild cleaner, then strong.

Using wipes or a wet cloth isn’t going to do anything for sunscreen.

You’re right from a cleaning perspective. I highly doubt it’s sunscreen though. Thanks for the advice. I’ll try them.

Looks to me like you have full leather and not ext leather so that part of the door card should be real leather. I agree with Needsdecaf. If you can’t wipe it off with some good leather cleaner I’d inform the dealer. Problem is it looks like the sun might have been concentrated in that area so be prepared to answer a bunch of questions if you do take it to the dealer like do you park outside? Do you park in a city with large buildings etc. I know there are people who experience this kind of stuff in a few big cities with building that use reflective glass. Do you have tint? If not you might want to invest in that.

I'm pretty sure even with Full Leather...that part is Vinyl. I could be wrong but I don't think I am.

You may be right. Just based on what I’ve read the top of the door card is called leather, the bottom portion is not. It may be vinyl but it certainly feels different than the ext leather door card which is just hard plastic. I’ve had both and I wish my current base M4 had full leather. It’s the only feature I miss from my M4C with my current M4 base.

No idea what’s going on, because the spot disappeared today. When I cleaned it and it dried overnight it was still there, but fast forward today, it’s gone. Fwiw the car is garaged and I have prime xr plus tint on all the glass including front windshield.
