M4 value check

Currently a F80 guy and I’ve been trying to get my IT Director to get rid of his G82 M4 as he really does not need it for many reasons. Finally am making some progress but wondering what your opinion on value might be. CARVANA said it was to rare (?) to provide an on-line number.

It’s black with a blue and yellow interior. DCT for sure and RWD. 2022 w/3500 miles on it.

Thoughts on what trade-in would be or even private part value. He lives in North San Diego County.

Thanks!

Private party? Maybe $75-77K but why not check autotrader.com for your area or maybe KBB? California can be weird but low miles used M4s are on autotrader for $77-80K here. You can go new for mid-eighties. Delta to MSRP for a 2024 to me just isn't big enough to warrant going the used route, and waitlists are much, much shorter now than they used to be, and the G80 always seemed to be in greater demand than the G82.

Your Director of IT has a 22 G82 RWD with an automatic Black Sapphire over yas interior. it has 3500 miles on it and you want to know what it’s worth?

G82 does not have a DCT. Is it a comp? Regular seats? Why you fuckin with the IT guy? Maybe he likes it ?

Yeah, this is a weird post. F80 guy doesn’t like the G80 so he’s trying to convince the IT Director to sell? Find a better hobby.

Given the level of success most of you must have to get a M car, I’m A bit surprised by the questioning of my motivation here. That said he is thankful and did ask me what I thought it might be worth.

No qualms with the G80 and I have as gone as far to configure a few here and there over the past year.

I’m good on the hobby front which is probably why it’s represented in my avatar. 😎🍻

What's kind of strange is that on the Cars & Bids link that was posted, only 1 of the 9 cars actually sold during the bidding process. Two sold after, and I guess the rest didn't meet the reserve? Perhaps a lot of people missed the value boom and are having trouble realizing the market has changed.

Why is it any of your business what car the guy drives? And why are you trying to convince him to get rid of it if he actually likes it?

A lot of reserve not met action on the auction websites these days. Sign of the times and more to come.

This post has me really curious. What car do you think he should have instead? I don’t really have much input on the used market, but I’m really curious as to why you think he should offload his M4 right now

I’d bet he’s trying to get it himself and using this thread as justification for “fair” value.

If that’s not the case, sounds like a real busybody who doesn’t know how to mind his own business.

In either case, misses a lot of information that can help arrive as guesstimates of value. Even screws up standard config confidently.

OP, your IT director’s car is worth $100K. Tell him to take it to Carvana if he likes that number. Tell him to hold on until he gets a bite at that number - he should know what he’s got. Do not let him get cheated out of his money.

I get hater vibes from OP. This happened to me, I posted my new g82 xdrive on the gram last September and a friend who I thought was chill started messaging me asking why would I spend 100k on my M4 then he started digging deeper how much down payment, interest rate, how much I make a year, credit score, my payment and at that point I instantly blocked him cus at that point I knew he was being A hater, he then messages mutual friends asking why I blocked him. I can't stand people like OP. He is just pocket watching the IT guy and wants to rub it in his face how much the value has diminished.

I thought OP wanted to buy the car off of the owner and they are trying to figure out what fair market value is. They could also just take the car to Carmax and work off of the Carmax offer as a guideline.

This turned quite entertaining, good lord, my fault. Less is more!

Since I was not a regular here, I thought I’d state the forum I came from and give a bit of back story.

Admittedly, was not a fan of the G80 for while, but it has grown on my quite a bit, especially in that Isle of Man Green. Not enough to get one, but that is simply because I love my F80 and like having cash which is very good to have and will be even more so in the coming months.

I care about my IT guy as he busts his ass for us and is a really great dude. I also have a macro view of his situation, which is not my place to get into here. But ideally he would take any equity from his G82 and just pay cash for something. Right now he is thinking a new BMW motorcycle, which is perfect.

Thank you for those that chimed in with a value and to the others for the laughs. We have turned into quite the suspicious society, haven’t we?

Cheers!

Thanks for the response and this makes much more sense now. It sounds like he needs to downsize his car payment due to his life situation. Good luck with the sale and I hope he gets decent value from his M4

No, we have not. You wrote it in an extremely cryptic and nosy way. Literally:

Read what you wrote again. You did not say "My IT director is trying to unload his G82 and needs help". Or "trying to help out my IT director". You wrote "trying to get my IT Director to get rid of his G82.....finally making progress".

Not for nothing, that sounds super creepy and weird. If that wasn't your intention, cool, but I think most people would read that and think the worst, not the best.

Hopefully nobody set out to be super creepy or weird and certainly not my intention. Perhaps I should have been more thoughtful with how I worded it and save myself a bit of time. Or just simply asked for the value. 😁

FWIW, I have not been bugging him too much about this for a while and he came to me to ask me what I thought it was worth. He has other goals and ditching this car would help with that.

Thanks for the feedack.

The value is dependent on a lot of factors and also geo so not sure you (or your IT Director) will get anything accurate here. Check auctions/sales for comps and you will get a decent idea. Also trade in vs pvt party needs to be considered.
