Totally frustrated, the dealership did not allow me to take my car

After my car arrived to Galveston on September 7, yesterday, October 7, they told me that It was already at the Dealership, and that today I could go and pick it up ...

To my surprise, just before arriving, I received a call in which I was informed that my car had just been put on a STOP SALE and that they can’t allow me to take the car with me, they could not tell me exactly what it was about, it should be noted that when I put the VIN of My car on the BMW website, It does not appear to have a recall, well, I could not get it out of the agency and I only had the opportunity to see it in person and take some photos and a couple of videos that is all I wanted to share with you all.

You can imagine my frustration as I was seeing my car up close and not being able to take it back home with me, it was not pleasant at all, and the fact that they don’t know if this could take a week or even months is crazy.

Unfortunately all there is left to do, is wait.

I will install:
- Macht Schnell Spacer Kit (12mm & 10mm)
- 20" & 21" Style 1000M Cross Spoke Matte Black
- Waiting for the Xdrive springs to come out

You potentially have 3 stop sales, like most of us. Audio module, camera, and Main Bearing (this one is new). Put your VIN in the site below to see how many pop up. Your dealer should have known there are stop sale on the vehicle before calling you over. I'm surprised it made its way to the dealership. The stop sales are generally resolved at the port.

My car arrived at the Galveston port on the 8th, I'm sure you were on the same vessel. I too have a stop sale, but only one, on the audio module and waiting for it to get fixed.

There is not much information what the fix is or what BMW intends to do about the stop sale. If they are going to replace the bearing shells then the engine needs to be opened up. I'm opposed to the idea of the engine being opened up by techs that may not have much experience, especially on an expensive car like this so early in the stage. If you're leasing it then it shouldn't matter much since it'll still be under warranty. But if you're financing it I would seriously think about it before signing those papers.

I would ask that they remove your car from the showroom and park it somewhere safe. There will be plenty of people trying to open the door, brushing against the paint and running fingers across it too when its dusty which happens quickly.

The dealer has no choice with the stop sale and the car may be in that status for a while...who knows. I would think BMW will prioritize cars that are actually at the dealership to get those delivered as soon as possible.

Mind sharing your build week and last few digits of your vin to help others understand if they'll be affected by this? My week 29 M4 is currently on a boat to Galveston as well. I also have this stop sale code from the UK site but my SA told me I wasn't impacted by this. Just trying to add some data points to this main bearing shell issue. Thanks

I started with a budget in mind however I just couldn't contain myself and believe me that I suffered with every decision I made.

To be honest I am not convinced by the rear winglets and I can not do anything anymore, I just think and hope that they will look better with the 1000M Performance Wheels (21" Rear Wheels)

Sure, my last 4 Digits are 4938 I understand that the production of my car was in the last days of July since on August 3 they were painting it.

I didn't bought the 1000M from the dealer, i bought them from www.getbmwparts.com for 3,334 for the 4 wheels and the tires from tire rack for 1,905 dlls the total for all set was 5,238 dlls.

Have you decided if you're going to lease or finance it?

Either way, wait till BMW announces what the fix is going to be then make your decision if you're not 100% sure. Not worth stressing or losing sleep over this like others in the main thread. Sh*t happens.
