I would love to see what happens with the CSL on actual track tires when it warms up with Randy behind the wheel. I imagine it picks up A BUNCH of time. I've seen first hand what these cars are capable of by professional drivers, the grip levels are insane.

This video is at least 6 months old and already had a thread on it. Why is it on the front page?

That - and how did BMW engineers..., "M" engineers let these cars get out w/ the stance it has. You can jam your fist in between the tire and fender. Heck - throw some mild Eibachs on that car and the cup2r's and see what happens.

I'd like to see this redone with the M3 CS or upcoming M4 CS on Cup 2's.

Woww!!! Apparently, looking at these comments from various ppl, the M4 CSL is such a sh!tty car. I never drove one, so it is good we are learning about BMW should have designed it. No wonder the car really did not sell well; buyers want stance, race tires and unless it beats the supercars, it sucks!

Have you seen the changes they made to the S58 oil pan design to deal with track use? It’s a non-issue, if that’s what you were trying to get at. It’s funny that they took the one car that’s highest and tallest off the ground and decided it was acceptable to put it on different tires from the other two… two negatives out the gate, just to be safe. 🙄

Yes, part of me thinks the M4 CS will be the faster track car than the M4 CSL.

It’s going to be a weird car because based on what the M3 CS is, technically it’ll be a CSL with a back seat and normal M4 trunk lid and xdrive. Same power, same everything else, just like the M3 CS.

Yea, exactly like a CSL just heavier is a weird characterization. I’d be surprised if they omit sound deadening on the CS, or use the same solid mounts on the rear subframe. We’ll see how that matters when BMW releases the CS Nurburgring lap time.

It’s hard to understand why so many people bought a CSL and then turned around and traded them in. I have a feeling many wanted some kind of night and day difference between a Comp and the CSL for the money and what they got wasn’t what they expected. I think those same people bought it on the hype alone as opposed to real passion for the car. In my opinion, the base M4, Comp and CSL were kinda like the old school Integras where the Comp was the GSR and the CSL was the Type R. The upgrades to chassis rigidity, engine, etc. were there and useful, but they weren’t night and day differences. Given the M3 CS is also cheaper than the CSL on paper and yet still provides the same creature comforts of the Comp, BMW might have felt they could do the same with the M4 CS. I believe the M3 CS sold pretty well and is being kept by those buyers more so than the CSL was.
