Hagerty does a fantastic job with their video production, so that much I applaud. But they kinda skipped over the real world aspect that you can actually buy an M4 CSL for under $140K without much effort at all, you can maybe find a C8 Z06 with the Z07 package for around $180K lightly used/flipped, and you probably can't get a 992 GT3 RS for less than $400K, maybe closer to $500K. And that's without the whole issue regarding the tires (which they tried to suggest mattered less in cold weather but we all know that once they warmed the tires up the tires were a huge deal).

I love the GT3 RS (and other specialty 911s) but putting them in these comparisons against cars that are 1/3rd their "real world" prices has little entertainment value for me.

Is this the 7 month old video where they couldn't source proper tires for the CSL?

Porsche hands down every time. the best. Corvette sounds nice but it is so damn ugly, and lacks any symmetry. Even the new M3 is nicer looking. That said, why is BMW sharing brakes with a land rover?

Proper tires and a bit more aero and perhaps the m4 will put up a better time.

Great cars, but corvette ruined the seating position on this new platform. I’m 6’1 and can’t even wear a helmet in the car with proper seating position. Atleast with the Germans they’ve been doing it correct for eons. Almost had it Chevy, almost.

Personally I'd rather just have a 992 gt3 when they reach sub 200k

The new M3 is nicer looking than the new C8? Might be time for a trip to the optometrist.

From the back ,yes. M is nicer. Vette is brutal. From the front, no the M is horrendous. So pick your poison. Also, wouldn’t even waste my time unless it’s a Z06.

Never thought I’d ever agree with you G Money, but I agree - M3 in rear, Vette in front. However, overall, I think Vette is a far nice looking package. The main drawback is that they made the rear look like a Camaro.

While the M4 put up a fantastic time, this was expected since they were comparing 2 purpose built sports cars against a passenger sedan/coupe that was enhanced to be a sports car. Kind of reminds me a little bit of that Neon SRT4 that rivalled more expensive sports cars on the track, but had limitations and wasn't the fastest.

Anyways, maybe the M4 would greatly benefit from a functional aero package and better tires...that would be interesting to see, along with the final cost to compare with more expensive sports cars.

The point of this video was to dissect strengths/weaknesses of very different approaches to building a track-focused car on a track known to favor high HP and aero. They went to great lengths to expose performance nuances through the various sections of the track and its features, however, without tire parity (more specifically tires that the car was factory tuned for), there is little that can be derived about the CSL relative to the others with the sort of precision for which the test was designed. Having 3 cars of this nature that came from the factory with the same exact tire (PSC2R) makes the premise all that more appealing - until you learn the CSL was on 4S. It really destroyed the value of the comparison. Now, the order would not have changed (in my opinion), but that is not the point of the video which was to highlight the differences through the lap.

At the end of the day, it's a very well produced video and 90% of viewers don't care about the details anyway.

Corvette is pretty damn impressive and affordable too. Porsche looks so good doing it. BMW.. beating M5 is a feat.

Totally agree. They should have got hold of the Cup 2R tyre and then done the video. I do like it nonetheless but we have no idea how the CSL would have performed with the parity.
