That is a real world time for an amateur driver. I've done multiple laps on the ring and the G80 feels at home on the track.
I am so jealous that you get to drive you M3 on that track!

I am much more interested in that kind of driving versus 0-60 runs.

And I am learning a lot from this thread, like the higher speed rolling runs are what make the car feel faster in the real world.

Well, the smart cookie would ask the service manager to "officially" confirm, or deny, if they do void warranty on cars with excessive number of LCs, what that number is, and why? I'm fact, ask them, why and how does BMW know how many LCs have been performed in the life of a car?

In other words, if it doesn't matter how often and frequently you use LC, why bother counting how many a car has done?

Conversely, if no such info is yielded, then LC till the cows come home - how much better could it get?

m3/m4 are great cars for the money still. I'd only own one in black though

Looks like they finally tested the AWD version.

2.8s to 60 and 11.0s 1/4 mile @125mph. Insane supercar-like figures.

Sometimes I think about what I'm giving up by going with the non comp 6MT RWD. But at the end of the day it's all about having fun over spreadsheet numbers.
I dont know how accurate this will be on the streets, I tore an M3 xdrive comp apart from a dig with my trackhawk, Once we hit around 70 he pulled on me pretty nicely, but my jeep doesnt do 0-60 in 2.8, the best I have gotten in it is about 3.4 or so

Edit: I am stock, I know the M3 driver, and he used LC

I know it's not even close once things get moving, and I can't wait to track one. I've only thus far had the opportunity to drive one at BMW's Ice Driving in Sweden back in February...a blast, but a totally different track. In any event, I'm just drifting toward a 992 is what I think is happening. It's partly the car and partly that I have a total urge for another European Delivery. New 911 in Europe is a bucket lister and BMW really drove a stake through the heart here in ending ED.

Yeah, it would be lovely to have something like that here in the states, but performance driving isn't part of this infrastructure (..nor the culture here; our overall driving behavior demonstrates that). It's the same with motorcycle racing.

Uhhhh, I love my M4xDrive and I would do the 992 w/ European delivery no question. I did European delivery with my old 2018 M4 with my Dad and it was a total core memory thing. He still won't shut up about that trip to this day.

Going back to original conversation in my experience, it's night and day as far as acceleration from the dig and out of corners on the street vs the old M4. That car I was always fighting traction. It was fun, but way slower on the street unless conditions were perfect. The characteristics of the S58 is more of a roll on of power as opposed to the explosion of torque of the s55.

Only thing I can assume is he screwed up his launch or was delayed. C&D tested the trackhawk and got 3.5s to 60 and on to the 1/4mile in 12.0s at 115mph.

Just goes to show that driver error is one of the biggest factors.

Hard not to be impressed by that 2.8 sec figure…and I'm not a numbers guy. Crazy.

And yes, I'd STILL take the 6MT.

I'd like to throw the X5M in their also so the X5M can get to the finish line turn around and start video taping the other three racing each other.

Also, the 1000RR is a track bike, not the best for this comparison. A Kaw ZX-14 with a professional rider has turned 9.3 quarters.

Did you say..... CHEETAH??

The M4 would feel right at home in this race.

I'm not sure that BMW can "officially" declare a hard policy against supporting warranty claims if an owner exercises some feature that the manufacturer clearly developed and documented for use. If memory serves, the manual also states that the engine stop/start function -- which manufacturers are basically bullied into providing to improve fuel economy scores -- may result in additional wear/stress on the drivetrain. Stop-and-go traffic, or circuit racing, is also relatively hard on drivetrain components. I'm not suggesting these are equivalent to LC, but unless there are specifically-declared exclusions to the warranty, I don't think they can legally deny claims because you used some feature more than an arbitrary number of times.

I'm not sure that it is actually documented as at least it is not in my M850i manual. I too was completely unaware of the limit as many others on the 8-series forum but those that have hit it, e.g., limeypride can attest that it truly exists.

No not specifically on the G8x but from my understanding it applies to all of the ZF transmissions that have LC. For example members of the 8-series forum whom haven't hit it yet with their M8s (I have about 50ish with my M850i) had hit it with their F90 M5's.

I forgot that you hit it with the first M8C GC as well. But knew for sure on the F90. To your knowledge is it documented anywhere? Or just a hidden "feature" of the ZF transmission with LC?
