Those with sunroofs, anyone put black PPF on your roof?

Yep, should have gotten carbon instead of the sunroof is what I will here, but I love my roof and enjoy it. That said, was thinking about black PPF or whatever wrap material on the roof only of my BG M3. Thoughts or pictures?

You can absolutely have that done. They even make PPF that looks like carbon fiber. But if you think that’s cheesy then just do black. Find the right place and they’ll do a very good job for you. I would love to see pictures when you’re done. But it will look good. I’ve done it to many other cars before.

Thank you!

I optioned for the sunroof also

Wonder what a carbon rap roof would look like on a BSM G80

Find the right shop and they will show you what it looks like. I’m sure they’ll be fine with cutting off a 6 inch section and putting it on top of your car just to give you an idea. I know for a fact they can do a really good job and make it look awesome.

I love having and using my sunroof. As you can see, I had a carbon fiber wrap installed. I think it looks great in person. Best of both worlds for me.

I have a place as they wrapped the front of my car with PPF as well as other areas. Just curious on thoughts and what it would look like. Would not do carbon and would stick with gloss black. Not that carbon is bad, it's just not the real thing.

I ordered a sunroof as well! I see you’re in PA and I was recommended to the same shop! Guess you can vouch for their work? How’s the cf wrap holding up? Did you do full ppf? Any regrets?

Thanks. I’m located near king of Prussia.

Just a note to all of you with sun roofs wrapping the roof, the shark fin is black on normal carbon fiber cars, and not body colored. It stuck out immediately to me as out of place when I saw the pics. Most detailers pop off the fin to wrap seamlessly, so you can have them replace it with the right fin at the time.

And to this point. I don’t believe that the popping off of the shark fin is such an easy thing to do as it’s glued. Also, when you replace it, you have to glue it back and make 100% sure that it’s sealed so it does not leak.

From what I have seen there are also non carbon fiber caps that look like carbon so it won’t mess up your satellite reception. I think it’s an OEM part as well. If you didn’t want carbon, you could just paint it black.

When I did mine. It was about $700 I believe. Part of the reason it was higher was because I wanted the roof rails done and then ceramic coated like the rest of my car. Be aware that black PPF is harder to wrap on the roof especially on roof rails. What I learned as I had it removed due to not being happy was that wrapping the rails is almost a no go. The film is too thick and does not lay down properly. So you might want to skipped the rails or order some black ones vs painting originals. That’s what I would do.

The only reason I have not done this to my roof is I was talking to my service manager about it and he said don’t do it - he said he has previously had to replace the fin on a car where the roof was wrapped and it was not reinstalled correctly. It was round A$4000 to fix. Scared me off ….

Thanks for the call out. That white fin gave me a mini heart attack.
Needa wrap those fins black guys. Never thought of carbon imitated wrap. Interesting.

Or if you want to keep the carbon theme going, could order this:

Does anyone know for sure whether the fin comes out by simply running a floss under it, or do you actually need to drop the roof liner? I'm considering either one of two shops, and each one is telling me a different thing.
