From what I can appreciate, it’s what I expected from an LCI.

The headlight changes are subtle - I don’t mind them though.

The lower air inlets almost mimic what the current exterior carbon fiber package does for the current MY. I like that a lot honesty, but doesn’t radically change the look.

All in all, it’s a subtle evolution and I think it’ll deliver in the looks department, and not step on the toes of current pre-LCI owners.

Yea I agree. That’s pretty fair take on it. And a little power bump is just different engine map or slightly more boost. I don’t think anything that will be noticed. Just for press release.

Not sure why people think the lower bumper inlets are changed

The car in the package has the carbon exterior package (visible mirror caps), so that’s probably just the carbon ones that we already have.

Looks like no changes besides headlights.

Also I interesting that forum members can’t get over the front grille 3 years in, when it’s obvious the car has been a huge sales success for BMW.

I got my F80 at invoice and there were 4 sitting on the lot at every dealer at the time. The G80 has a 6 month- 1 year waitlist and every car landing is already sold. The internet can complain all they want, it’s obvious the general public can tolerate (or likes) the looks enough to buy the car.

Agree the general public doesn’t care that much about the looks, and while there are people that will never like the grill, it has grown on most people including me. And at the end of the day the performance capabilities of the g80 I think overshadowes any “negative” looks the car has. People are still going to buy it and enjoy it.

That being said I’m not a fan of the new headlights. Definitely glad I’m getting a pre lci, pickup in 29 days 😁

OK. Maybe wrong choice of word. Altered, nostril size reduced, more traditional double kidney design, etc. Etc.

I actually don't mind the looks. I definitely prefer pre-LCI, but I wouldn't be mad about buying this. Not sure why people are so appalled by it. It's like people feel the need to tarnish the new thing out of insecurity that their current model will be outdated.

None taken. I am already very happy with design of my daily ‘22 X3MC. Was considering a manual M3 for fun. The new LCI design is still not a deal breaker with after market grill and bumper because the car is great overall. We just disagree on cosmetics.

2 years from now, people will love it and will be changing their pre LCI headlights for it. It’s the exact same story every single BMW generation/LCI.

With the right mods I can appreciate an F80. I do remember complaints when they were new, not at the current cars volume to be fair. The back end of an F82 is still a sore spot for me. G8x is unusual but I count that as a good thing. Genuinely enjoy them shaking things up, hate it or love it — it’s interesting. I think it’s lovely. I did drive an i3S for a few years, so I’m not bullshitting when I say I like them weird.

Experience behind the wheel has been more important however. I remember exactly how I felt the first time driving both cars. Both times I had driven the current M-lineup on the same day. My main thought after the F80 was that I’d rather have the M6. Never considered getting one again. My main thought after the G80 was I have to have one, and put in my order later that day.

Perhaps this will be the standard headlights and new laser lights are also coming, just not shown yet. In that scenario, these headlights shown are definitely an upgrade compared to current standard lights. Very disappointing they haven’t updateed the taillights, they already appear dated.

I’d like to see a cleaner, more integrated design of the front lip and not sure I like what they’ve done with the headlights on the X5 which this may imitate.

It seems as though BMW keeps fixing things that aren’t broken, guessing it’s to cut costs..?
Cut costs and encourage mperf upgrades.

Could be that increase of 15hp is because they will add mild hybrid and his 70kg more, so that maintain same acceleration.

Why would they do that? Why would they change the most successful M3 in history?

I really like those snake eyes and I do like the newly designed X5 as well.

I'm receiving my M3 in December and I'm already a bit sad. Wondering what other changes they will add, e.g. iDrive update maybe?

This photoshop from GermanysFinest really seems accurate:

I'm curious how well the projectors lay out the lights on the ground. Compared to the laser lights, these lights lack a lot of definition. I love the look of the lasers and the little blue area by the laser that matches the rest of my car.

f80 pre lci to lci was significant in appearing refreshed - they called it in for this one, heh. Feels like between the previously released screen, the power bump and the lights they feel they have done enough. If you already have CF inlets, then the bumper doesn't appear changed, at all

I think in part it’s due to BMW moving away from them with newer models like the i7.
