Have you considered a blend mount to attach the radar detector to the bottom of the mirror? Gives it a from-the-factory feel with less clutter vs an after market accessory feel. And the higher positioning should help with better detection, especially for the rear.

Let the wife drive on on the Autobahn for the first time. Before this trip she was "I dont get it, it's just a car. It gets you from point A to point B." Then she hit the M1 button and had it up to 138. Now she is looking at X5M... It was an expensive drive!

Yeah. With the v1g2, the buttons would rattle/buzz. Drove me nuts so I sold the mount.

Interesting… I've the V1 G2 blend mounted to my G82 without zero buzzing or rattles (so far, but I've barely done 150 miles with it). Something may have be wrong with the V1, the mount or the 'tightness' of the installation. Or it's just a matter of time for me.

How did you manage to get the backlight on the shift knob?

Any tutorial on how to install that thing ?

Would be really appreciated !

I'm also curious whether the F8X shift knob has any bearing on shifter feel (either the linkage/throw or the stick itself)? Or is it just cosmetic?

I followed the thread originated by mzcp to install the F8x M Performance shift knob.
This knob wasn't embraced well when it was released for the F8x, some people calling it 'Pepboys knob', etc. lol
I personally thought the aluminum goes well with the G8x interior and decided to give it a try.

Obviously, the bracket for the shift boot is different for our cars, so I had to reuse the stock piece which involved some trimming of the shift boot (F8x boot has a bigger footprint), gluing, and stapling.
The knob itself feels thicker around the belly than the stock piece.
If you've driven an RX-8 in manual, it feels somewhat similar.

As for the shift linkage, I wouldn't say there's much difference.
It's mostly for cosmetic and the lighted pattern.

I wish I took some pictures while doing the fabrication to show what's involved but if anyone is interested, I can take some closeup pics of the boot to show how I managed to fit it.
