Welcome to 5 years ago, it looks dated compared to the new renders, probably in the minority, just my 2 cents... but I really can't wait for this new look on the 4 Series.

I agree and they look to small for the design of the bumper. The mustache kidney grille also looks like crap compared to the OG M2 kidney grille. The larger grille just needs to be proportioned properly to work with the design of the bumper.Hopefully the render is way off and they will be smaller.

Lol so much emotion. Imagine when they first switched from vertical to horizontal
Saw this "homage to heritage" today at the dealership.

For all those who actually think BMW will make a grill like that, needs to wake up. BMW is not Nissan, they keep their designs subtle. It will have the m8 grill design ..

Beautiful renderings, however.... I'm not sold on the giant kidneys. It's still a 3 series, not an X7.

I agree. It looks like a proper BMW - sleek, subtle, sporty, elegant
The mega grilles on the latest models, however, are a design abomination.

Boring and dated is preferable to me over this. Oh well.

Someone should do a poll with age vs preference to mega-grillz.

Back when Audi went full grill, I always imagined BMW would elongate the kidneys.I know the spy pics suggest horizontal grill bars, but I think vertical would be more in line with BMW. Here's a quick overlay.

Yeah I can see why they'd go with horizontal bars if they make the grille that long.

My prediction:
I think the grille shape will be more "implied" than literal, and there will be a strip dividing the top and bottom. The red dots show the implied part.

Audi does something like that with its grilles.

Another view I created. Quite literally just from the test mule. Not even much input from my end. I believe the BMW Next Style Grille, will be an implied shape, not a literal shape, which is shown by red dots, where the shape is "left to the imagination". You can even see the bumper contouring where the red dots are, it appears to be a body panel, that is being camouflaged. I have said it before, I think the renders are missing using all the clues we have available. Of course could be wrong but this is where my intuition lands as of right now.
