Wrap roof yes or no?

Only thing I wish I could change on my car is having a carbon roof. I’m about to start mods (tints, lowering springs, spacers) and was wondering what people think about wrapping the roof gloss black? I think it would go well with the black wheels and shadow line trim. The paint is frozen white btw

I would leave it be. I have no idea how delicate FW is but I think it looks great as is.

Absolutely get it wrapped. What you actually want may be this carbon fiber PPF: https://www.stek-usa.com/dynocarbon

I saw that in the other thread can I just buy the material? My friend and I can easily wrap it and I don’t want to pay the crazy money for labor. Also kind of hesitant on getting a carbon fiber wrap kinda feel like its a poser thing to do? I don’t know maybe I’m just over thinking it I love the carbon fiber look

You might have to buy the STEK dyno Carbon from your local detailer I'm not sure if they sell to anyone who isn't an authorized installer.

But yes - absolutely get it done. Looks great. I love the addition to my AW M3. Who cares if people give you grief about it, it's not their car.

We enthusiasts know BMW doesn't offer carbon fiber roof with sunroofs. I wasn't happy with having to make such a choice as I like having a sunroof, but eventually ordered the carbon fiber roof. I don't think anybody would hold it against you for wrapping considering these circumstances.

If they actually offered CF + sunroof, and you wrapped it instead, that may have had some people turning their nose up at that. But this is not that.

Do it. I've done it before on white BMWs and it makes a big improvement

I think it's stupid to do it and you shouldn't do it. Leave the car as it is specific. But this is my opinion, take yours

Sounds like you used this on your roof? Can you post pictures? I’m thinking about doing the same to my roof since I ordered with the sunroof. Thanks!

Definitely do it gloss black. Any carbon fiber wrap looks cheap in my opinion. Especially on such a large area.

Matching the gloss black on the lower part of the car seems like it would look pretty great.

The latest STEK carbon fiber PPF/wraps look almost authentic.
It'll give a nice contrast. Definitely do it.

Gloss black only. Don't do a CF wrap. It's cheesy.

I’d definitely do it. I had a white M235 that I always wish I had done that to. I think it would look great.

I recently wrapped my roof gloss black. It really makes the top portion of the car "flow" better.

Here is the STEK Dyno Carbon PPF. I've seen this on a lot of cars now, including a Mclaren that totally had me fooled into thinking it was real.

The last pic is the BMW carbon spoiler sitting on top of the PPF'd roof so you can see how close the weave is and the "depth" to both. Yeah you are going to strangely irritate those purists who know that you can't get a carbon roof with a sunroof option, but I love how it looks and people notice this more than the matte wrap on the car.

It's all preference, but since we're polling the audience, I'll toss my $.02 in. Hopefully it helps your decision.

If you do choose to go gloss black, the standard vinyl (especially baking on your roof in the LA sun) will show it's age quickly with no top coat to protect it. A newer product to market is gloss black ppf. It has the same self-healing properties that ppf does, so it is resistant to swirls and scratches and has more depth than regular gloss black vinyl.
