What’s your favorite quirky feature
All apologies to Doug Demuro….
So, what’s your favorite small, odd, hidden, unknown, under appreciated, or just plain goofy feature of your G8X? I’ll start. Weird one. I love how fast it starts. The starter is super quick and it catches fast. Sounds very precise, very well engineered. It’s not too short; I’ve had cars that start almost instantly and it doesn’t sound as good to me. Yes, it’s strange. But it makes me smile. How about you? |

With the new iDrive I love how the car in the "my car" widget actually animates wheels turning, turn signal, brakes.

I just got an X5 with iDrive 8.5 and find this a fun little thing as well.

The quirks I notice are things I wish we could change. The weirdness that is continued music after I shut the car off and walk away.
The fact there’s no comfort entry so I have to worry about rubbing my butt against the bolsters in my coupe every time I get in and out. The power close trunk on a car seems weird to me too. How hard is it to close a car trunk that I need to press a button and watch it go down powered 😂 But I love the car otherwise. The power and comfort and handling more than makes up for the little annoyances! |

- don’t have to touch the paintwork if it’s shiny clean. No smudges. I hate seeing oily smudges on doors. Same thing for the trunk. - don’t have to touch touch the paintwork if it’s dusty, dirty or wet and dirty. Clean hands, especially if the hands are going into the car next. - don’t have to get out of the car to close the trunk for others (see reasons above). - closing and opening the trunk from afar but within line of sight when someone else wants to take out or put in something. Did I say I feel like I’m being stabbed in the head when fingers touch paint / ppf. - nothing really special about a motorized trunk. Not having it feels cheap - like many may feel about roll down windows these days.

I find my trunk opens half the time I try it with the powered button. It also sometimes takes like 5 seconds to respond when it has to wait for the car to wake up. Kind of annoying.

The small hooks on either side of the boot, inside the boot space above the netted compartments. Perfectly designed to keep a shopping bag upright while driving

Nope. Even when you turn off the car before opening the driver side door the music continues to play once the driver side door is open. When the passenger door opens it shuts off. If you don’t have a passenger locking the car shuts it off too.

This is not my experience at all. If the front passenger door was never opened on that trip, music stops as soon as the driver door is opened. If the passenger door WAS opened (like if my son is riding with me), it stays on until that door opens or it times out.

How many did yours come with? I have one on the driver's side but didn't see one on the passenger side. My 2016 340i had two.

Start a favorite quirk thread, get lots of complaining. Haha.
My favorite quirk/feature is heated and electronically adjustable bucket seats including bolsters. |

The power trunk seems stupid until you've lived with a Model 3 trunk. There is no way to close that without either slamming it or getting your fingerprints all over it. The way the hinge point is designed it either doesn't shut and needs to be pushed or absolutely slammed shut.
So we all appreciate the fact that the trunk closes nice and quietly when people are inside and say, one of the kids is getting something out when getting dropped off. Or if they are already in the car and someone is loading up the trunk with purchases. Nice to not have the entire cabin reverberate with a huge BOOM when you are inside. |
