Cool Enzian Blue M4 - Pacific Raceways

Original photo credits: Igor
Location: Pacific Raceways
Event: BMW CCA Car Control Clinic (August 2023)

All photos have been edited down to 4K wallpaper res and faces/plates replaced with AI-generated versions (to avoid distracting from the star of the show - the G82).

Enjoy! Igor's extremely talented as far as I'm concerned.

Nice! I wanted to make it out last year with the Supra but never did. Let me know if you plan on going this year, I'd go out and beat the new M a bit...

I don’t really track, partly because this is still a “nice car” for me and I don’t have the appetite for risk or cost yet in this car, especially the way it’s specked.

The photo on the track are from “parade laps” as part of the BMW CCA car control clinic.

The CCC is highly recommended though. The instructors had some difficultly with the G82 doing the same exercises as the F8X and older cars because the performance envelope was significantly higher - emergency braking for example, the car would accelerate explosively fast with M xDrive and reach much higher speeds by the braking cones, and then it would still brake well for the speed.

The dynamics in auto cross was different because speed modulation “expectations” drift on one end (can accumulate too much speed prior to a set up corner), and the car is overly capable on the other (so driver skill isn’t pushed as much if the speed is not high enough).

This makes complete sense. The G80 is much more controlled platform then the F80 ever was or could be. Therefore, you need a more speed to upset the balance a touch & loose a little grip.
