Haha, I just really enjoy creative DIY'ing.

The one I purchased was from East Detailing. I opted for the full alcantara option and I think it was about $120 shipped. They provide everything required (thread, needle, tape, instructions). It has held up VERY well over the last 6k miles. I've actually considered picking up another, but with no center stripe.

There are some other good companies out there too, one of them is UK-based. If I can find their site, I'll post it up.

This is a really good one. Pretty sure this is the one Joe Achilles had installed on his first G80.

This is where mine is from:

https://www.eastdetailing.com/produc...32724372586599

I actually sent them an email as they didn't have the M tri color stitch as an option. They were very responsive and easy to work with. What you see in my pictures is the full black alcantara option. I also asked that they would make the center stripe a lighter blue to match my full Yas interior. They were spot on with all of it.

Thanks! Yeah, heat and driver assist pro work perfectly. Alcantara just doesn't get as cold to the touch as leather, but the heat will still warm it up a bit. Makes sense why BMW doesn't apply the heating option on their alcantara wheels, really isn't needed.

If Porsche can do an alcantara steering wheel with heating option why oh why can’t BMW.

Using the heating function a lot at the moment and not willing to sacrifice it either. As much as I love an M Performance (or even better CSL) steering wheel.

I worked with Aza Auto Wheel to replicate the M Performance with Alcantara and 12 o’clock blue stripe retaining the heating and drivers assist package sensors.

It has taken a long time for them to complete but should see it in hand end of next week.

nothing better than original M Performance steering wheel. I was thinking to replace blue ring with different color but in the end I don’t want no one open and tie back the brand new steering wheel.
So end it up ordering stock (blue ring) with Alcantara rear covers.

CSL sexy choice however there is no place for dirty hands sometimes. Example MPerformance steering wheel got leather., so in case your hands are dirty, you can temporary put it there. And in Csl is full alcantara

Just leave a package of wet wipe hand cleaners in your door pocket, or center console, and a microfiber towel to dry them off. Or get some gloves, maybe?

Gloves is required absolutely. Cleaning is a mandatory anyway.
I can’t wait to install my one. Interesting how much dealership will ask $ for it ?

I've been debating getting a CF steering wheel as well, but the cost from Aza is crazy. I did find these guys out of Australia I think and their wheels allegedly retain heating function and DAP, which IMO is a huge plus.

CSL style

I constructed the original Alcantara in Korea in CSL style.

The heating wires are running and there is no problem with semi-autonomous driving (capacitive sensor).
