My local dealership offered to pay me the equity as a down payment on a new vehicle assuming I order it to arrive around the end of my lease. With that in mind....here are some other questions.

1) If it's possible to get these large discounts on new M4 Convertibles, is it not also possible to do the same with an M440i convertible or is this based more on the amount of M4 allocations?

2) Is it possible to get discounts on allocation orders similar to discounts you can get on vehicles that are on the lot? I was thinking of going back to my dealer once I find a good deal and see if they will let me order one that I want at a similar price but don't want to ask if I am going to look like an idiot, lol.

3) One thing that has been bugging me is not getting the curved screen if I buy a used 23 M4. Any thoughts on how much better (or worse) it is than the previous iteration?

4) Assuming average driving across the board, is the M4 going to be less reliable than an M440 over the course of 7 years?

5) For newer models, do you still need Driving Assistance Pro to get Adaptive Cruise Control?
1) Yup. Usually compare percentages, M4Cs are definitely more of a niche product than M440iCs, so you may not be able to get off as much there. Just based on the cars sitting on the lots, how long they've been there. Allocation vs allocation, I'd say your chances are pretty equal though.

2) It is, but don't expect as much, for obvious reasons. They want to move cars on the lot way more than they'd want to sell an allocation (though they do want to do both)

3) Some people like it, some people hate it. I'd encourage you to ask the dealer if you can just sit in one for a few min and play around with it to get a feel for it. I think the larger wireless carplay screen alone makes it way more worth it, but the climate control is a little funky and you may be annoyed with how sluggish it can be sometimes (though it's not bad at all most of the time). Make sure it's an M3 or M4 though, most of the other iDrive 8-equipped models have been upgraded to iDrive 8.5 already, which is not a similar experience and has a good amount of UI changes and improvements you wouldn't get on the M4 (we're not getting iDrive 8.5).

4) I wouldn't say so. The B58 is incredibly reliable and the S58 is just tuned more for higher performance driving. If you're not taking the S58 to its limit constantly, I'd expect a similar amount of reliability.

5) Unfortunately, yes. Look for the grill sensor if you're looking on the outside.

Ah i thought your lease was ending sooner. May will be harder to get discounts as thats prime selling time for convertibles.

1) As someone else said, it's about supply and demand. Sometimes you wont get as big of a discount on a cheaper car, because that car sells more. More people buy non M models than people buy M models. That being said, you wont be able to hit those kinds of discounts with a new order/allocation. You'll need to purchase something on the lot and preferably something thats been sitting there for a long time. The M4 Convertibles at my local dealership have been there for almost 3-4 months hence the massive push to get me to buy one.

2) No. As soon as you place an order for one, the negotiating power is with the dealership. By placing an order they know you want the car. With a car on the lot, they dont know if you actually want the car, and generally it also means as a buyer you are sacrificing something (color, options etc.) so they are more incentivized to get you a good deal. Also the longer a car stays on the lot, the more money a dealership loses. A sitting generally means, thats one less allocation that dealership will get in the future which means less money. At a certain point it's more financially smart for them to move it, make significantly less, and then get the allocation for someone to order one in and then sell at MSRP or higher.

3) I have a 2024 M4 so i have the big curved screen. I personally am split on it. I much prefer the layout of last years model, however i MUCH prefer the software and how it looks for the current years model. I think it looks way more modern, the graphics are a big upgrade and it's very responsive. Personally i think it's worth it to try and get a 2024.

4) If same driving, reliability should be about the same. I'm unsure how much economy is important to you, but the B58 is A LOT better on gas mileage. I had a Supra (which uses the B58) and was averaging about 29 mpg in normal mode. My M4 i think i'm averaging about 21 MPG driving it mostly in efficient mode. Obv in Sport + both dropped to closer to 13 MPG.

5) i believe the answer is yes

As far as point 2 goes, I wouldn't go so far as to say flat out "no." Any allocation sold is still a point of sale for the dealer. They're also about hitting numbers as well as getting cars off their lot. They absolutely would love to sell any allocations they have since those don't count as cars sold until someone actually signs a contact. I've gotten money off of multiple allocation orders in the past. It's very doable.

So, like I said, while they would *rather* get a car off the lot, they absolutely will give you money off of an allocation since it still helps them immensely. The alternative for them is they have an open allocation *and* they have a car sitting on the lot, so the alternative is absolutely preferred.

Plenty of examples on here of people getting a considerable amount of money off an allocation order.

Don't all M4's come with surround cameras, which includes a rear camera?

And as long as the car is still under BMW warranty, you can purchase an extended warranty from BMW.

Rear camera is legally required in the US on all cars, but 360 view is not standard. Requires the $700 "Parking Assistance Package"

Found a new G82 at a dealer about an hour from me. Nice color combination. “If” you could get 8% off you’d be at 80K. It’s been there for a while.

Thanks everyone. I just purchased a 2024 M4 Comp Vert with all options except carbon buckets, carbon breaks, and carbon exterior. 17% under MSRP. It ended up being the same exact price as my specced M440. So glad you opened my eyes to the possibility!

Just seeing this thread.
Congrats from a fellow G83 owner. Love my car.
One thing I saw that hasn't been answered was the rear facing dashcam question. Here's how I mounted mine.
I bought this windscreen from ur windschott that fits between the headrests. https://ur-windschott.de/en/bmw-4er-cabrio-g23-g83/
And ran the cable from the front cam, down the a pillar, along the lower door sills and then behind and up the rear seats to the glass. I looked at a number of solutions and this seemed to be the best choice for me. I'll upload a video and link in a little bit what the view is from the camera. I'm quite satisfied with it.
Feel free to PM me if you want to talk about the camera solution or other stuff. I have it running off of a celllink battery mounted in the trunk.
Again congrats man, enjoy her

Thank you! That is great. I will probably order one shortly (wish it wasn't so expensive as I will probably never have rear passengers to enjoy less wind, lol). I am using the same exact dash cam as you and all have a cell link that I had wired in my M440 (done all myself) so this will probably be a identical install.

I may reach out to you for more details. Also, I see the glass rubs on your rear headrests. Is that not going to damage them over time? Seems for the price it should fit better.

Ah, Boston. Doubt they will sell any other convertibles until May 😉. This was a “perfect storm” for you. NE dealer, stuck with a high spec convertible that is taking up space on their floor plan in late December. Really nice score.

Chrono9084 yeah it does contact the headrests but it doesn't seem like it moves much even with spirited 100+ mph top down sprints so I'm not too worried. I also rarely if ever have rear passengers. If it ever does seem to cause wear worst case I can take it to a friend who repairs vehicle leather and he'd probably be able to fix it for relatively reasonable cost. It just works so well as a rear mount that I feel like it's worth the small rubbing/contact. Now how it works compared to the actual windscreen, I don't know. I've never even used the OEM one but the bufffeting is nothing like other convertibles I've driven so it definitely seems to make a difference.
She's pretty and that's a fantastic deal. Strong work sir!!

WOW 17%!! Thats incredible. Even more of a discount than i thought you'd get. And you got a really nice spec as well in my opinion. That blue is fantastic. Glad you were able to find an M4 instead of needing to settle for the M440i. Not that the M440i is a bad car, but an M4 is an M4. Congrats again!

Sudbury had 4 high priced M4 convertibles that they were looking to move by year end. I traded my wife's M440 convertible for a fairly loaded Alpine White over Fiona Red M4 earlier this month at a comparable discount from them. We got the 440 there in 2021 and they were great to work with on both deals.

Now we have a his and hers pair.

Thanks! It was mostly luck (except for the driving across half the country part lol).

Did you use the battery mount bolt in the trunk to ground your dash cam battery? That is what I did in my M340. If so, any chance you remember what wrench size is required? I am hoping to bring a few tools with me so I can hook that up prior to driving home.

Also, do you have any insight on the installation process for the wind screen? They do not have any directions available on their website and I am curious what I may need to bring to get that installed as well.

Thanks xxyion I am super excited to finally have an M car.
