Should I bother exchanging this ??

So I bought the m performance side skirts recently, should have inspected them a bit better before install. I noticed the driver side has two minor imperfections not consistent with the passenger.

Sounds like I can warranty the part but I was literally getting ppf installed on them tomorrow.

It’s a large piece so I don’t expect the manufacturing to be flawless but for the price I wonder if it’s worth going through the trouble

The thought of pulling it off and going through the trouble sux but wonder if I’m selling myself short if I don’t or if others with the part have similar issues

Thx

You can just take it to the dealer. They’ll swap out the OEM part even if you didn’t buy it from them. So you don’t have to worry about labor or quality with the replacement, etc.

I had this done with one of my front fender CF fake “air breathers” with the M4 logo simply because the backing clip wouldn’t hold the top edge tight. Swapped, no questions asked.

Your specific issue - it’s very borderline. I may not care if the effect is subtle in real life and will likely be even less noticeable with PPF. But up to you. You can ask the shop to skip that piece and wrap just that later after replacement - they should be able to accommodate.

These parts aren't cheap. Get it done right the first time.

I have the same issue with my side skirts. Never even thought about going to the dealer but maybe this makes me change my mind.

There are areas that aren’t perfect but they are consistent with both sides of the car which tells me it’s part of the manufacturing process, specifically around when the winglet comes out

I decided to take it to Bmw first and see what they say and postponed the ppf install

I’ve always gone oem becuase the quality has always been there so if this wasn’t acceptable to me on a non oem part not sure why I’d want to deal on a part worth well over 1k for one side

I thought you said the two sides were inconsistent.

The finish is consistent with both sides with the exception of the two defects pictured in the video.

I'd move on , barely noticeable if at all .

You have to get up close and personal, kneel down w/ a light at certain angle, just to see it.

But it's your car so ultimately you need to be okay with it.
