Regrets About Buying the G80 New? Seeking Insights Before Getting the G80 LCI

I'm considering purchasing the G80 LCI when it releases next summer, which would be my first brand-new car. To help inform my decision, I'm curious about the experiences of those who bought the G80 new from a dealership. Did any of you come to regret that choice later on? If so, what were your reasons? Specifically, I'm interested in any insights or experiences that might lead someone to say, "I wouldn't buy it all over again."

No regrets; excellent vehicle in every way. Recommend paying for full leather.

Still very new into my ownership at this point, having received it three weeks ago, but I'm well past the point of any cognitive dissonance causing any regret. It's an outstanding vehicle.

This may be a quiet topic, since I don't think most here will regret it, but wanted to chime in to say "no regrets at all"

The only regret I have is not getting Dravit grey lol. I'm so jealous of folks with that color. I never got the chance to see it in person because most cars at my dealership were bought out when interest rates were like 1.99%. The computer mock up of that color didn't do it any just so I would suggest seeing the colors that interest you in person at your dealership or at your local cars and coffee.

+1 for this. I was sold on Brooklyn based on photos and videos, then I saw it in person and wasn’t as impressed as I was hoping. It’s still a beautiful color.

Portimao Blue is another color that’s misleading. The online mock up on the BMW site makes it look like poo compared to its in-person presence. Night and day difference.

I would not trust the online mockup lol. No way. I went with Brooklyn grey metallic and am happy with it but the next vehicle will for sure be in dravit grey if they don't convert all their M cars to electric.

I am very happy with IOMG. People comment all the time. Better then I expected. Overall vehicle is awesome, zero regrets!
Used M car is tricky for me becuase it’s just hard to know how hard someone pushed it.

I don't think you'll find alot of people regretting the car itself. If you're at all interested in the car and you end up regretting it because you're disappointed in the product package itself, you're probably not going to be impressed by much else in life. The car is superb.

That said, typical regrets include items like color choice, seat choice, laser vs non Laser lights, shadowline vs non shadowline lights, carbon package and full leather. If you're at all anxious just slow down and take your time. Inform yourself before you go in and sign anything. Try to look at as many colors in person as you can and sit in a car with full leather and the cf buckets if those interest you.

One other piece of advice. If you end up ordering an individual color like I did, get a place like IND to paint a speed shape of the color for you have so you can see it in different lighting. The speed shapes are pricey but so is individual paint and you want to make sure you get something you like.

Hope that helps.

No regrets. I agree with emthreepa sentiment: Get the full leather.

No regrets at all and knowing no one abused the car before I was the owner is a great feeling. Additionally locking in 0.9% financing for 48-months and getting it at MSRP 20 months ago was somehow a smarter financial decision than I would have ever imagined for buying a new car.

Not understanding your question OP. Regrets about buying the car overall? Buying new vs used? ?

I haven't gotten mine yet, so can't comment on regrets, but the dealer I'm working with is great. Also after having picked up cars in just about every way possible except acquiring a lease (private used, dealer used, dealer used CPO, leased off lot, leased ordered, direct from manufacturer, purchased off lot, purchased ordered) I'd say that at this price point, order the damn car and get what you want. The used market is still too hot, there are few deals. Unless you are picking up used from private party, used from the dealer now is just too much money, IMO.

Get an allocation, do the painful wait and enjoy. But you'll be spoiled for life, lol.

One of the best things about buying a new BMW is you can order it exactly the way you want it and it gets built just for you.
You get to agonize over a multitude of options, discussing it endlessly here on Bimmerpost.
Then you finalize your order and spend the next couple of months second guessing yourself while the car gets built.
And then one day it finally arrives and exceeds your expectations.
Yeah, that's the ticket.

More carbon fiber would have been nice in retrospect...

Oh and carbon brakes too... that brake dust really, really sucks.

But 15-20k less for essentially the same car is hard to argue with too.

My build is in 150 status and I’ve officially hit the “second guessing” phase. I know I made the right choices in regards to options, but it’s just a matter of did I get the right color like I mentioned above.

There’s TOO many options to choose from, color wise, but in all honesty, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them.

I’m also one that second guesses pretty much every purchase I make. lol

I’m at 150 also, and second guessing a couple of my options:
  • CCB (didn’t order)
  • Buckets (didn’t order)
  • Is dravit the right color or a “boring” choice
  • Is black interior/leather also “boring”/safe choice

Other than that I missed out on the M-Drivers Package, due to miscommunication. But I’ll go the FEMTO/BM3 route instead for the same price. I added pretty much all other options.

No regrets, this is my second G80 M3. Only regret I had was the first one was not AWD. Dealer talked me out of it. Second one is now AWD. After the first one I didn't find anything that came close to this.

I could have waited for the LCI version but I did not like the headlights (especially the DRLs) so opted to get the pre LCI.

My only regret is not going for individual color but I was on a budget and didn’t want to give up the other options.
My debate right now is if I should order another next year or try something else. Not much competes with the g8x
