A quick question to you Vic. I’m loving your AR G80 and I’m currently in a Portimao Blue M340i and considering upgrading to one of two possible options: a fully loaded AR G80 M3 XDrive with all possible options (maybe the ultimate pack) OR a standard 992 Carerra 2 with just folding mirrors, Bose upgrade and sports exhausts (no sports chrono) in standard guards Red.

Which would you choose Vic? I’ve never had a Porsche before but I have had an M3 E46 and loved it but a Porsche 911 just seems a lot more special. I have two kids whom will also be in the car with me and the wife on the weekends on short journeys (30-45 mins). My kids are 10 and 7 years old. My kids are average height and not too short, I’m around 5ft 8 and my wife is just under 5ft.

Which would you go for as a weekend car?

The 992 would probably end up costing me around £96k whereas the M3 would probably cost me around £76k with a hefty discount that I am able to receive through the national healthcare employee scheme. Unfortunately no discount on the Porsche 😩

Decisions, decisions??

911 will not work for you with family.

You'll never drive it.

I've seen this first hand.

Yes indeed decisions- the G80X has really narrowed the gap and I would probably choose it over a base 992 based on my needs.

Whats more special, your kids comfort or your personal driving needs?

I think the G80X keeps you happy and married and your kids' posture will thank you as well.

Yes I guess you are both right on that one. I want to drive it as often as possible and my kids comfort does come first. I just wish that they had created a better design for G80, that front grill just isn’t doing anything for me whereas a 992 just looks absolutely beautiful. 😩

Oh stop it, its a face only an owner could love LOLOLOL

Its actually highly formidable and unique vs the mundane front fascia of most other sports cars including 992 base models.

As a 2X 992 911 S owner (2X 991.2 owner too) I would totally get the x drive. Yes the Porsche was special. But I daily drove one for 4yrs and while its a special and gorgeous car. I now wish I would have just waited and bought one later in life and made it a weekend car.

You get way more bang for the buck with the x drive. Way more. And its so much more practical to daily and family with.

Dust free garage with a 110 jigawatt thermo nuclear suction device.

I just have my guy on call at all times and the ceramic coat installer/detailer guy is really good at his craft.

Last week i had the 992 gts . I also own an M4 comp
Xdrive and i am an ex-owner of F90 Comp.

My feedback for the Gts:
-i don't need to say it again , but i will . PDK is the best gearbox ever and the launch control is out of this world.
-this gearbox needs more power .
-the suspension i think is too comfortable for this type of car. After 60-70mph it feels like an air suspension . That's great for daily driving but too much for this type of car.
-insulation is also very, very good , apart from the engine noise (better than the F90)
-quality of the interior is not what you expect from a 911 (many rattles from the back of the car). These type of noises i have also experienced in a 992 4s.
-the car had 4 wheel steering so the dynamic behaviour was way better than m-cars.

As a daily i would choose the Bmw . If you look also at the price difference , there is no comparison .

For me the the perfect 911 is either GT3 or Turbo S .

Try the DSC Sport module on your 992 GTS when they release it soon. It made a huge difference on my CGTS. The ride is as compliant as my G80. Ben r33_RGSport tried mine and bought one for his 991

Thanks for this, did you drive a new one or a press car or?? Was it the Lightweight Package which is very noisey? Im getting mine no matter what so I just wanted to ask having the issues we have stateside even getting any Turbo S or GT3 for less than 300k USD.

Was it a Targa, 4S, Cab, or Coupe (all being GTS of course). Ive watched quite a few reviews where they said the suspension was actually too taut (these were non Targa, Cab cars which get a fluffier suspsension).

Based on just reviews alone (quite a sampling) Ive been impressed but of course my personal views will count the most. If it doesnt meet my expectations, Ill just sell it since Im scoring a good USA deal.

It is programmable PASM module, where in BMW would be DSC and EDC module.
I talked to them a few times at SEMA, and it has been a few years all their answer is, still working on BMW and being put into back burner since other markets has better opportunity.

ok but what does it do to the pasm exactly?

Does it change the reaction rates or stiffen up the dampers further or??

Better mapping to the PASM by using all the cars data (acceleration, g-sensor, speed, brake, etc) to adjust the dampening better than factory one size fits all setup.

That's from what I've read.
And when I drove mzcp 718 GTS 4.0, I felt something, but I don't know how it differs from stock.
So, I order 1 for my 991.2.
I will drive it for a few days with stock PSAM, then install the DSC Pro afterward so I can notice and feel the difference. I need to do so since I don't daily it like you to your cars.
