Ditto.. Fellow /// m-diver to he core. I really tried to get myself into the 911 upgrade bandwagon. My neighbor just acquired a 24 911S in Chalk. I spent good amount of time looking at the car at every angle. Although the design is very classical and beautiful, I couldn't convince myself to love the car enough to justify the $155k (minimum) entrance fee for a nicely optioned C2S.

Seems as though the car has been out long enough for many to be in the normal ownership buy-sell cycle. And with demand still solid and the price increases, seems as though owners can still get a decent sell price.

I like smaller cars. The new M2 is more my speed. Probably a couple years. But if they don’t get rid of the new giant screen dash this will be my first and last BMW. |

Yeah i originally had the Porsche part covered but it ended up being a lemon so here I am. I personally really like the big screen to be honest. I think it makes the interior look really modern while actually being very useful. And i think honestly thats just where the industry is headed right now. I think BMW have managed to pull it off without it looking tacky but thats just me. I think Porsche pull it off better so i'm honestly really hoping i get into a 992 if i can.

I took delivery of my G80 Comp xDrive 6 months ago. It’s my DD. I’m no longer a loud exhaust type but the G80 is too quiet and driving it wasn’t very exciting for me. Recently, I’ve installed a valve controller and it transformed the exhaust note to my liking. Being my DD, I didn’t want a loud after market exhaust and the fully opened stock exhaust notes are what I was looking for.
Do I plan on keeping the G80? After 2-3 years, it will probably go. I haven’t kept a car for more than 3 years as I get the itch for a new ride every couple of years. My current toy is the only car that I plan on keeping for the unseeable future but my wife has her doubts, lol. Having said that, if I can have only one car (family + fun car), the M3CX would be one of the top contenders. The one very minor gripe about the M3 that I have is the slight turbo lag. All turbos have lag, I know, but it’s more noticeable on the G80, IMO. The 991.2GTS was a bit more dialed in as are most P-cars. My next plan is to buy a 992.x TTS/TT and use my Macan GTS as the DD. At the end of the day, it’s just personal taste. Yes, first world dilemma indeed! |

I plan to keep my G80 M3 for 10+ years as long as I can keep up with the maintenance cost. The main reasons are this is probably the last manual, the last non hybrid/EV M3 and 473HP is more than enough power for on road driving.
I would like to get a 911 at some point but I hope that will be an addition not a replacement for my G80 M3. I get a good value out of this G80 M3, a comparable 911 with 473 HP would be 911 GTS that is 2X the MSRP of G80 M3. I can't compare the driving experience between 911 and M3, not even close but M3 is good enough to make me happy :> |

Will sell mine before year end. Had her since Jan ‘22 and while she’s been great I may be moving to Chicago and don’t need a car. When I’m ready for a another car I’ll be looking at maybe the new m5. Will have to see what the consensus is on that one though.

My spouse’s G83 will probably be replaced via a 2025 G83 (LCI) order.
She likes her grocery getter/retiree convertible, but it is not driven much since we have a lot of toys to pick from in the garage. Last edited by MannyS; 01-25-2024 at 12:02 AM.. |

Or maybe its just the incompatibility of Texas weather and a convertible? Can't imagine there are many days conducive to driving with the top down.

Here in the TX hill country, it is top down weather about 8 months per year. Aug, Sep and Feb are usually no top down months. We have two other convertibles, so we are convertible people.

I might get a lci g80 to replace this crashed one, or get a x5m for ground clearance and that V8.
I never go to track, this 12mm chasis height have given me too many clenching moments when I was going through some steep slopes. Audi rs6 performance has arrived to our market too, but I want to drive a car that can oversteer like a, you know, BMW. mecedes v8 cars are too expensive, and they are all hybrid now, at that price, i'd rather get a 911 turbo s. |

Just from a curiosity perspective - how many people think a G80 is "worth" 90k?
Now, I don't mean that from a comparative perspective as in what other cars you can get for that money (we know its a value from that view) or the fact that absurd kia suv's now cost 55k... but I mean that in general. Do you feel it's worth 90k? When I drove it, I never got a feeling of a 90k car... its a 3 series all in and it still feels like a 3 series... more special... sure. But I was not sure why this car would cost 90k, nothing there feels special to put that price on it from my perspective. i think at 70k, it becomes a more feasible car when you know you are getting value for what you paid... when the initial cars came out at 78k, that seemed more feasible although still high. Remember, 110k gets you an M5 with one of the last V8s in existance.
