Too much going on here.
Couldn't agree more. Also, is the grill distracting everyone from the hideous oversized exhaust back box?

Well I did say I would get a ton of laughs from these comments 🤣... but anyways I will be picking one up for sure I'm just not sure if I will get the first batch or the following year. As long as bimmer can deliver on the optional CF buckets I am good to go.

Over the years I've always had a thing where I can make any of my cars look really good so I'm not worried about this thing...😂

I made a few little changes. Now it looks a bit more aggresiv and closer to the spy shots. From what we have seen so far, the deisgn will likely be much simpler and less sharp. I think the side profile will be getting closer to the new 4.

Eagerly awaiting the "I retract my earlier comments..." period.
In my opinion we have seen enough to have a very good feel for what this thing is going to look like. Seeing it in real life might change a few peoples minds, but don't expect a cascade of retractions when these cars hit dealerships and people see them in the flesh. I believe this new look is going to remain "challenging" for most people.

Personally I find the G8X front a big improvement over the G22 (which is cartoonish and comical, not aggressive at all). So I am one of the few hoping that I will like the G8X more in the flesh than I do at the moment...but that really is just a hope, not an expectation.

I have been driving the 5 series for quite awhile, I wanted something different more exciting to drive.
I was really considering the new M3 until the front became huge, the new design ruled that out.
So I thought do I just keep my G30 540 (50k miles) or get a 2021 540. I decided I really wanted to try my first M car so I went with a 2020 X3M.

Then you are very lucky. You will buy a car that has amazing performance and looks that you love...a win win for you. Others are not so lucky...they (including me) have a difficult choice to make...do we spend that much money on a car that drives great but whose looks we aren't feeling? Believe me, it is a frustrating position to be in, so exhibiting a bit of angst over this new design is a pretty natural thing to do. If you don't like all the negative comments, you don't have to pay attention to them, but if you do read them then they shouldn't just be dismissed as bunch of people "hating" for no reason.

Former F80 owner, but hate the grille so went ahead and put a deposit on 992. This grille is very costly for me

I guess on the off chance it grows on me I can get an LCI one.

I remember these exact threads about the F8X series, and the new Supra, and just about every new car that’s leaked or announced.

In 2 years people will be saying different things.
Yep. Because I want a car with this level of performance and a manual transmission, three or four model years in I'll probably say butterface and dive right in.
Come to think of it, BUTRFCE might be a good choice for a personalized license plate for the G8X.

Your 435i isn't worth very much; keep it, tune it and enjoy payment free bmw ownership for a few years more.. don't waste your money on this you'll be disappointed

The M3/4 hasn't needed a power dome since the e92 so at least they're not giving us more fake, over-creased body panels lol

I absolutely love the rear 3/4 profile of the M4. Best lines of any current BMW IMO. As someone noted it's kind of disappointing they couldn't have integrated the radar sensor better in the grille as once I focus on it it's hard to un-see. Overall I think this car is going to look absolutely menacing in person and on the street. I believe the mission here for BMW was for the model to stand out and I don't believe anyone will argue that this won't be the case for better or worse. There's never been a bold design that's been universally loved especially at launch but I think this car will age better than the F80/82 which are by the numbers BMW vanilla. The reality is that the F80/83 M3/M4 was usurped by the M2 and BMW had to do something to bring the focus back on their flagship performance cars. Is it the right direction? Time will tell but the fact it's very polarizing IMO is a good thing as the last thing you would want to hear is that it's good or okay which means outdated in short fashion and forgotten.

I wonder if the radar thing will be standard equipment? adaptive cruise doesn’t interest me in the slightest. Wife has it on her SQ5 and it’s never been used. Would happily go without it.

Agreed. And some cost savings being able to exclude it, too.

Where's distinct model hierarchy when the M3 has the same general look of every 4 series model?
