Monoball: FallLine or Carbahn

In the market to replace the front monoball on the g80 and while doing some research, I've narrowed it down to FallLine and Carbahn.

Anyone have experience with either? I've read threads on users with FallLine with good success but not so much about Carbahn. Also they have two versions (standard and first edition) and can't see any significant difference.

Ultimately looking for a set that has low NVH but some noticeable steering difference. Thanks!

I have the Millway monoballs and personally I think they don’t make much of a difference at all and certainly are not as “transformative” as the aftermarket community that just trying to make money make it out to be.

Most go with the Millways, here's some feedback for review: https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2074325

Always in stock.

It makes a subtle difference but the difference is definitely there, with zero downside. Especially with CS/CSL software.

I went Millway.

It seems the two mods enhance the experience of the steering. What I’ve read, the CS software is more noticeable than the millways alone. Combining together is the answer to get the full experience.

I did the Millways first, then CS software. The most noticeable thing with just the Monoballs is the tiny bit of imprecision on and just off center was fixed and slightly more feedback through the steering wheel.

CS software was more noticeable for sure, but both work so well together in sum.

Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like a lot go towards millway.

SPL has a full arm replacement including the mono ball. You guys think that’s overkill for a street car?

most likely. SPL is part of an overall package for those geared towards track use.

Millway is best for street, everyone we've installed for has been very happy in how they feel.

The SPL doesn't have a sealed dust boot. Millway offers the cheapest sealed monoball available, which is why it's the go-to choice for people looking to do this modification.

Do you have to unlock your DME for the CS software?

I recommend Millway. I also have CS steering and both those mods makes the front end feel like a Giulia QV. Perfect for a daily

I had FallLine but recommend Millway or any brand that has a sealed construction. Being sealed means you don't need to worry about any long term weather related issues; FallLine's monoball is not sealed.

I also need to echo the sentiments that the monoball themselves do not create a whole new experience, but when coupled with CSL software & better rubber up front - you'll like the experience vs. the stock G80. I drove my old G80 for about 15k miles with the monoball + CSL software + Goodyear SC3's and really enjoyed it. It isn't as good as an old 997 but it's still pretty decent all things considered. I suspect adding stiffer sway bars, and a few other goodies from SPL will enhance it even further with minimal introduction of NVH.

Thanks for the input. I’ll have to take a hard look at the cs update. Sounds promising!

I would say 100% that there IS a downside. While overall NVH is not increased significantly, response to sharp edged impacts such as pothole edges, manhole rims, reflectors, and expansion joints is definitely quite a bit more noticeable. I installed mine at the same time as lowering springs, but I've had lowering springs before and not had this type of increase in this TYPE of NVH. While I wouldn't say it's a deal breaker, I definitely caution when people say there's zero downside or zero NVH increase as that has not been my experience.

I think the type of road makes a big difference as when I'm on the asphalt roads in our are it's virtually the same. But most of our roads are concrete and it's much more noticeable.

(Also Millway, BTW).

Have the fall line monoball, end links, & Spl rear toe lock out. With cs coding definitely transform the car in a more glued feeling on the pavement.
