Article will be outdated early 2024, as the upcoming M4 CS is rumored to be faster than the M4 CSL due to mXDrive.

As a “track car” it reigns supreme as for the word fast of course Xdrive is faster 0-60 and such but I’m sure the CSL is a better out of the box track car then my M3cs. I totally get what your saying I do but I think it goes deeper. And yes def not a daily as it does literally hurt your body. Happy holidays to all the BMW fanboys and girls 🎅

Every article about a fast car gets outdated, and usually quickly. Automotive engineers never lie about twidling their thumbs. So, I think it's okay that magazines publish their articles, even if they know they will have to write another article in a few months about a new, faster car.

Not sure if you read the article, but the M4 xDrive is quicker to 60 and matches the 1/4 mile time of the CSL. Top end the CSL is faster with a trap speed 4 mph faster than the xDrive.

Reality is that nobody buying the CSL should care about a straight line performance of .2 or .3 seconds.

All xdrive G80/G82 are faster 0-60. If you are referring to the official Nurburgring times, that rumor defies logic and expect it will be debunked by BMW soon.

I don’t daily mine but have done 200 miles straight more than once and those race carbon seats are actually very comfortable for longer trips in comfort mode. I have not tracked it yet but the best track times are not about comfort...

M3 CS isn't, why would the M4 CS be faster?

Correct answer. There is no way the M4 CS, which is at most 40lbs lighter and with the same running gear, will be 11secs faster than the M3 CS.

The rumor started because of BMW's "4 cars, 1 day" video which shows a graphic at the end with the M2/M3CS/CSL and a "M Prototype" listed last with the time blurred out. First, you need to assume this is the M4 CS, which is probable but not confirmed. Second, you need to assume the M Proto time is faster only on the basis that it is listed last in the graphic.

Logic would dictate there are two plausible outcomes a) this is the M4 CS and they deliberately put it last so as not to reveal the actual position (e.g. faster or slower than the M3 CS). Or b) the M prototype is a completely different mule perhaps with a mild hybrid system or full electric making huge power.

Of these, a) seems the most probable. We should know in January.

Cars being fast in todays market has become sorta irrelevant with EV cars and thier stupid speeds that is way too much for the road.
Driving is about the experience, the emotion the car gives you, and puts that smile on your face. How a car looks is also a big factor for many of us.

After trading in my 5 series for Tesla model Y performance really embraces what I’ve said above. I love the Tesla for what it is, but my manual G82 with the mods I have is my happy place.

That pretty much sums up my feelings about it. I love the design of the CSL, but I just wouldn't enjoy an automatic transmission in ANY car. Overall I like BMW's more than anything on the road aside from certain Porsches (...namely the 911 variants).

The common variable for the “4 cars, 1 day” video is the S58. The prototype is the M4CS, as BMW has its product road map 10 years out and M4CS was developed years ago when the G8x platform was R&D. BMW is all about cost cutting and eccomies of scale these days. Look at the S68 now being used in M performance models such as the M60i for the X7/X6/X5. I belive that full EV is years away for being useful on the Ring. Maybe it was the P58 engine in the prototype.
