Our 750hp G82 M4 Nurburgring Review

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
We took the car over to mainland Europe for the team at AutoTopNL to get behind the wheel and put the car to the test.

They of course did their infamous autobahn testing and the video of that will be live soon but they have also started doing ring reviews with a pro driver.

Now our car has always been setup more for straight line performance, and they lent us some 863M wheels with R888R tyres on to help the car put all that power down. We did need to put some spacers on to stop the tyres rubbing against the Moton coilovers. The stance was super aggressive but did mean it rubbed a little in the back, but thats the price you pay for such square sidewalls!

Mod list:

Evolve Custom Stage 2 ECU Tune

I watched the video the other day. That car is wicked fast. I just drove the 'Ring for the first time last month and I'm getting to know the track much better and what speeds are where and you guys were hauling the mail.

Could you have raised the coilovers to avoid the rubbing?

Cool that Autotop NL now is doing 'Ring review videos as well. And awesome to see you guys partner up!

Very nice build. I wish we had a "ring" on this side of the pond, too.

Yes if you raised it maybe 10mm there would have been no issue, or as Huub said in the video ideally for track use a stiffer spring in the rear. The Motons are specced for a much more street/comfort usage as to be truthful this is probably the only time it will go on track.

We had the car aligned/corner weighted before changing the wheels so didn’t want to touch the settings for that reason.

It’s a new thing they’ve started and excited to see it grow for them. We’ve taken our F90 M5 over to them too and in this trip they drove both this car and our G81 M3 on the road,

The Mr VANOS engine package is following in the steps of the S63 with custom designed connecting rods manufactured by Arrow to be a drop in with standard pistons and crank. We’re going to start pushing the power further now to really put it to the test.

So Huub isn’t the guy who does the autobahn testing, that would either be Max or Martijn, all 3 are super nice guys 🙌🏻

Sweet car!
Did you need to do any coding for the csl tail lights?
Mine flicker when the car is locked or unlocked and I’m not sure if that’s normal.

I think VIR and Road America are the closest we get.

I hear Barber in Alabama is good too.

Monticello might be close. It's 4.1 miles and in the woods, but it' not "in the woods" since the infield is wide open.

I will say that Watkins Glen is kind of similar too. Lot of elevation change and it dives off through the woods and has a number of spots where you only see just the one portion of the track.

But yeah, there's nothing like the 'Ring, where there's nothing but you, the track, and the trees. Only a few big spectator spots, otherwise you and the forest.

Ours do the same, a genuine CSL they just turn on/off instantly. Last we checked it wasn’t possible to code but I’m sure someone will figure it out.

I managed to fix welcome light issue on G82 ECE with OEM CSL tailight. The light turn on/off instead of flickering. Only issue is rear DRL is affected, it doesnt light up(i think during the day). But this needs more testing to figure out the issue.
On G82 US tried but didn't get enough time with it.

Google Spring Mountain Motorsports Park. It’s in Pahrump NV U.S.A. One hour north of Las Vegas. 6.1 miles long but currently being expanded to over 15 miles making it longest in world I believe. Still won’t be the ring but impressive none the less.

The problem is there are next to no elevation changes there in the desert. Part of the 'Ring's allure is not just the length, but the severity of the elevation changes. They are insane. I think it's like 900' from highest to lowest and a total delta of over 4,000 feet across the lap.

Matt @ Evolve - what day did you guys do this lap? I was looking at the TF photos for the day I was there at the beginning of June and I saw this car! Would be hysterical if it were the same day...

Haha, yep! Same day I was there. I knew it was your car (hard to miss!) when I saw the pics, but wasn't sure if that was a shakedown or if it was the same day you did the filming.

I went back yesterday and I was looking for more pictures as I couldn't find many from one of the laps I did with my son in the front seat. On the picture website, I had previously sorted the photos by BMW and then black, and gray / silver. This time I went through without filters and, well, it's hard to miss Mint!
