Assuming it'd be a little cleaner in final production form, I could get used to this.
It's definitely a jarring change so "conservative" car enthusiasts definitely will not like it. Online forums and comments will be very harsh. But IMO, it's not a bad start to a new era of grille design at BMW. I'll still get a dark colored car, though. lol |

Rear taillights scream Lexus to me for some reason..... which is sad because those are actual production lights. From the rear the new G series can not be distinguished from a Lexus or Acura which is terrible.....

Don't know why people are so surprised since the grille looks more or less like what insiders like Scott have pointed out long time ago. No, the front is not going to look like a mini 8 series and it will be much different than the current 3 series as well.
I can't say it's ugly, but I think it's a bit too much. I'm not even talking about the grills, I mean rather the front and rear bumpers. They're too sharp, angular, busy and agressive (but in a ricey way). It's a good thing that it's not as understated as the new X3 M, but I would rather prefer a bit more sporty-elegant design. And yeah, the front reminds me a bit of Audi and Alfa Romeo Guilia (especially because the grill goes that far down). But the actual car sure will look a bit different, so we will see, I'm still positive. Last edited by Art__Vandelay; 07-18-2019 at 02:24 PM.. |

I believe the new M3 will be powered by the new S58 engine. This by all accounts will reach an eye watering 510PS!
The top models X3 M Competition and X4 M Competition are using a tuned up version of the S58 delivering around 510 PS (503 hp), but the expectations are that more power can be squeezed out of the engine if other sportscars emerge under the M Division. In the the 480-PS version of the S58, the torque is delivered between 2,600 and 5,600 rpm, while the drivers of the 510-PS version can even enjoy 600 Newton meters between 2,600 and 5,950 rpm. A little later, at 6,250 rpm, the maximum power is applied. A small step backwards is only reported at the maximum speed of 7,200 rpm, where the predecessor engine S55 still scored 100 additional revolutions per minute.

Yeah, no, that front end, I just can't....
The back however is not bad. As an F80 owner, there's a certain "frumpiness" to the current back end (hips notwithstanding) from certain angles that is hard to put my finger on, but irks me a little. That looks dialed out to me on this render Time will tell.... |

It is radical but I'm a fan. To me it harkens back to the E21 and E30 where the individual kidney grille height was greater than the width.

This front is horrendous! It's the ugliest front I have seen in a while! I hope it's a bad render!
The upside is that most drivers will only see the rear end! 😆

1. Awful, probably a cheap psychological attempt to have us accept the new design more graciously, when it is actually revealed later.
The boys/girls in the design studio probably had a laugh making up the renditions and are having a hoot reading these posts... 2. The writer's interpretation of what lies below the camo is grossly inaccurate. 3. Reminds me of an ugly Bugatti, has there been a deal I haven't heard about? 4. This is actually it, which really helps me decide whether to buy back on mylease when it ends... Signed T. Rex |

When I saw the post, I had to check to make sure it wasn't April 1.
I thought surely this is a joke. But the rendering is actually pretty cool. Makes me think of an Alfa. Of course it's not going to be like this when it's revealed but the renderings are pretty sophisticated and handsome.

Looks great except for the oddly shaped kidney grills...the height of the grill are an interesting choice; but they look like buck teeth...on the fence in this one.
