There's no wrong decision if $4k is the difference between someone getting an M4 or not at all. RWD is better than no M4 I guess. If someone can swing the $4k and they don't, in 99% of cases, that is the wrong decision.
If there was no difference between the RWD and AWD, BMW wouldn't make 2 models. And they wouldn't be selling all their higher end models (M5, M8) as AWD only.
