LiveLeak.com - Six thugs beat up two hippies in downtown Austin, TX

SMDH, too bad neither of the hippies/hipsters were packing. Savages roam the streets and it's too late by the time the cops come. Only you can protect yourself. If you sense danger, be prepared to fight or flight. That's how we are programmed but I have no idea what these three hippies were thinking with a rove of thugs looking to throw down.

I'm from Austin and I know exactly where that is. It's a trashy part of town filled with lower class scum. I35 and 7th street. East austin (east of I35) is mostly trash.

I used to travel that route for a restaurant (Braise) occasionally. They closed down about a year ago, though.

Just so everyone not from Austin understands this. There is 6th street, but it has two parts. You have west 6th, which goes from Congress to Lamar and then you have "dirty" 6th which goes from Congress to I-35. But you NEVER want to hang out around I-35 after dark for the reasons shown in this video. You see the type of low life scum that hangs out there. Not worth it.

The reason these hipsters were there is because they probably live east of I-35. Used to be (and still is actually) a bad part of town. However, now the "white folk" are moving in because the location is actually good. You're close to downtown, close to the action and it's somewhat affordable still. Problem is, now you're mixing people with money with ghetto people. It's not always pretty, and these just figured that out on their own.

My take? It'll be cleaned up in a decade or less.

Looks like this was actually at the Chevron on East 6th and I-35. Where the arguing starts is E 6th and Brushy. Completely safe during the day, but at night, you won't catch me walking around there.
