Need help with bmw apps

just picked up my 2011 535 m sport and wondering why i cant operate the bmw apps function, i have connected drive in the car, and i want to be able to listen to pandora and other web radio in the car.....if i need to purchase any parts let me know or if its a software update.....excuse the newbness.....all the cars ive had , at 21 i love this one....please reply...thankssssssss

I believe that you need to download an app on your iPhone. I have a BlackBerry, so BMWApps did nothing for me other than raise the price of the car by $250...

Assuming you have the 6NR option when you bought the car and you own an iphone ......

Just downloaded the latest version of Pandora through your iphone apps - connect your iphone to the usb port in the armrest compartment, satrt your car, turn on the iphone, and click the pandora app. You will see it say "connected' on the iphone.

From their just go to apps in the correct menu on your bimmer (connected drive .... BMW apps) and you will see pandora as one of the options. you can then set it as one of your front ten buttons so you can access it quickly (connect iphone, invoke pandora on iphone, push front assigned button ... voila - Pandora and interface on bimmer).

If you download the BMW connect app on your iphone, then you can do the exact same thing (following the exact sequence) with internet radio. Invoke the BMW connect app, and go to connected drive ... BMW apps on your bimmer.

I find having both music sources refreshing, however there are limitations which are VERY annoying. the biggest one is if you are knocked away from the music (eg by an incoming call), it kicks you off, requiring you to...

unlock your iphone'
open the software again on your iphone
then go to connected drive ... B<W apps on your bimmer (or select the hot button if you set it).

Major software flaw in my estimation (or BMW flaw). Wither way its highly annoying. WOuld be magical if a future version fixed this.
