in a nutshell.... no.
Ive got Pro Sat Nav and mine doesn't show the tracks on the screen or allow me to flick though tracks via the idrive wheel or s/wheel buttons. All iPOD functions still have to be done from the iPOD, all this does is act as a set of headphones, except the headphones are the cars stereo speakers.... A bit lame i know! Ive heard that later 07 cars will have full on-screen interface with the iPOD... but not for the likes of us.... |

erm... good question. I dont know to be honest....
Id ask that question on the main (u.s) forum they seem to have more accessories like that avaliable to them. or check on ebay etc... about having the ipod tracks showing on the stereo screen, once this is avaliable in '07 cars im hoping that its only a software update to get this function on cars without it... time will tell... |

i very much doubt it will be a software update cuz the actual ipod connector thing would have to be built into the car somewhere... at the moment the 3 series just has power and an aux input... there is no interface to control the ipod...
regarding the rattling, just stick the ipod in a nice silicon case like the iSkin Evo3 or summat like that |

i dont know bout the u.k but we have an adaptor in the u.s.
it allows u to control it via the radio dials and steering wheel controls! it does require a software update however! its an alpine module that fits tucked away behind the glovebox. works well, for me atleast, but some people have had quams about it!

It allows limited playlist based functionality effectively replicating a CD changer, using steering wheel buttons and displaying on idrive. Your dealer will have the details .. it's not cheap though. |

Its not an Ipod interface per se. Its a USB interface. The only way for you to know is to check with the dealer - Welcome to the site

Yes, thats the one, it displays track names etc on your car, and you can control it from your steering wheel buttons etc. The only thing is, if you have a cd changer it will need to be disconnected if you want this kit to be fitted. All E90's have the aux connector which you can play music through your car, but you need to control it from the device etc.

For March production and later:

jep is available for retrofit cause i had it fitted when i bought my car (secondhand). i think the cost normally would be around £250-£300. this is only an interface and you'll connect your ipod in the dash and just leave it there. its not a docking station.

It's listed under Dealer Fitted Accessories, on my order contract for a 335i convertible.
With the code of IPOD and a description of I-Pod Connector at a cost of £279.70 inc VAT So I guess any E92/93's should be retro-fittable. Mike |
