E90 radio recall!?

I took my leased 2010 328i to the dealership for an oil change where I was informed that there is a new recall for the stock radio, you know, the really shitty one that snaps, crackles, and pops? Anyways, I didn't agree to get it done at this time because I just installed a powered subwoofer about 2 weeks ago and was afraid they would see my wires. I tapped into the remote (pin 13) right behind the radio and tapped into the floor subs right next to the subs under the front seats. Does anybody know EXACTLY what is being done in this recall? Are they just replacing the headunit or will there be some rewiring throughout the car? What is your experience with this?

Would you happen to have to TSB?

I haven't heard of this recall so I can't help...most likely it will be a new HU and recoding. Doubt they would rewire the car unless there is a problem with the insulation or something.

I wish they would recall my HU. It freezes randomly and I need to do a manual reset or wait for it too reboot....my father's 04 e65 never does this. It is a bit slower though but still. I'd rather have a slow iDrive than one that freezes all the time. Sorry, end rant.

Most likely new software. Also this is a TSB, not a recall. Recalls are traditionally for safety related issues.

What is TSB?

I think its just the HU but they wouldn't say. If they just plug the new HU into the existing wiring harness, I have nothing to worry about.

TSB: Technical Service Bulletin

It still needs to get coded.

The adviser said "recall". But, I guess it really doesn't matter, right?

Is there an official BMW bulletin regarding this issue. I can only find recalls of fuel pumps.

Advisor is using terms people understand. Most consumers don't understand technical service bulletin. Or, he's not very smart.

Could it be the same TSB that was mentioned in this thread - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=458413 - last week (to which no one responded)?

Thanks in advance
I looked around for that TSB by the number given, but found nothing.

Note that he says that the invoice said "REPLACE". Very interesting.

I'm glad that I ran across this before upgrading the base stereo. Thanks. Did you get a TSB identification number?

Is this official? I can't see this on TSB list like this one on BMW TSB. Called my dealer yesterday and they were not aware of this. Does BMW have an official list of recalls and TSBs?

I was notified a couple of weeks ago that my radio was recalled.
Took the car in last Monday (1/22). They finally had it ready (supposedly) yesterday.
When I picked it up I asked the service guy to reprogram my phone, assuming that it would be necessary as the unit had been replaced. However, my phone was still programmed??? How is this possible? Anyway, the thing was screwed up. The seat belt warning gong was so loud that it almost blew the doors open, and adjustment was not possible....They still have it now...
Can anybody tell me if it sounds like they did not replace the unit? I don't understand why my phone would still be programmed if they replaced the unit? Thanks, Joe

I have 2006 325I. My Radio stopped working and CD is reading "HIGH TEMP". My radio has bluetooth and computer information. I took my car to the dealer and they said they need to change my radio and it will cost me $1600. Wtf?? Is it true?
