Alarm system

Just purchased a 2006 325xi. Curious do these cars as part of the standard features not have an alarm system, or is that something I have to put on?

The alarm system is an option, not standard on these cars. You can install it by the dealer, or just buy the parts from Tischer and follow the detailed DIY.

Install it yourself...saves you some money. I did and got lucky, my dealer coded it in for free.

Some cars are not prewired so you can NOT do it at all. Use care before buying ...

+1 Good point. But I'm almost 100% positive that is in later models. I have an '06 as well and I had it prewired.

Agreed, an 06 will be fine. It's the mid09's and later you have to worry about

Corrrect. I vaguely recall that the March '09 builds and later dropped the internal wiring harness for the alarm.
